Coloured and Gilded Coins

Hoping that some of you could enlighten me on this topic as I have a couple of questions.

Bought my first red dragon and just wondering how they colourise the dragon. I'm curious as how they got the colour to bond to the silver. Will the colour ever fade? Can it be scratched out?

Moreover, with the gilded coins, is it gold plated or what is the actual gold content on the coin.

Gilded with gold...very tiny.
