i thought it was supposed to be the other way around, or am i missing a trick?

honest recommendations guys will the colorised coin be easier to offload should i need too?

I'm not too sure that these have been fully released in Australia yet as I can only find the 2oz, but generally the colored version is more expensive atleast for the first while

From my own experience in Australia I have kept clear of the majority of colored coins due to resale issues.

Some did well for me in their time such as the series 1 Lunar Monkey, then seemed to have stabilized.

The Perth Mint 1 oz Silver Red Back Spider was a winner, was lucky enough to trade a few up from AUD $200 to around selling my last at around 900.

Now noticing it on the slow decline. Once again this was part of an ongoing series, not alot minted and the Red Back was a truly stunning coin.

The Perth Mint series 1, 2000 1 kg Silver Lunar Dragon colored with diamond eyes was a great investment, low mintage of 5000.

About the only ones I got hooked on and collected over the years.

However in saying that I have come across a handful of avid lovers of the colored coins. They do their due diligence before investing in colors.

Good luck choose well.

Yes indeed and was lucky to get hold of a few. The key being initial attraction of their innate beauty and the low max mint numbers. Haven't touched them for donkeys years. Starting to brush off their cobwebs since joining SS and cheers I reckon I got the pdf from one of your much earlier posts while searching for the numbers on some other stuff. What a pleasant surprise:)

Mintage for those was declared at 3,404 coins. Now, even a better coin. :D

I have a few colored 1 oz silver Walking Liberty Eagles that I bought about 10 years ago all perfect no signs of fading.

Have seen some fakes, faders and shockers of various colored coins over the years. I guess depends on how and where the process was done.

Once again if you like em and you want em then stick to reputable mints and process done in situ as opposed to after market...due diligence pays off in the long run.

There were some stories of the paint flaking off the coloured dragons in the 9 coin set. I have some and there are no problems on mine. I did see one where the coin and paint job were missaligned, probably worth more that way.

But generally the coloured ones are offered at a higher price but are not as popular with stackers.

I see colors as an insult to the silver. :D
I want them shining / blinking / blinding / lookin' like real money.
Coloring silver coins is like painting diamonds. Buh!

What's your opinion on gilding then?

I got 3 coloured ASE's at a Sydney Coin shop for $22 each when spot was a fractions under $20 ... from what i can gather they sold at a premium but now are worth less than regulars ones.. even the ones cased with COA's
