Coin Photography

Question: Has anyone tried using a macro lens on a smartphone? they vary in cost, however for those who dont have a digital camera with external flash tech?

I use a Calidaka lab scissor platform I got off Amazon for $9 and nothing else. I do have a Apexel for micro with my phone and got it too off Amazon for $37. I think you can search Amazon for these two items, I don't know how to link....... oh wait: maybe these will work:

No, the phone camera lens hangs off the platform just the right amount for 1.5" discs. A black cloth under all on the table.
Seems to work great and I've struggled with pics my whole life. Best, cheapest solution I've found. Easier and better than my Nikon set up.
bob :)

I ordered a Tomlov DM202 tho it will take a week or two to get here. I'm so taken with my new hobby I figured why not? My knees are shot so other then daily exercise my old hobby's have kind of faded away. Eventually, after I build a stack, I'd like to dabble in collecting.

Why do people use lighting that makes silver look like gold? Something I meant to ask a long time ago but forgot about.. It causes me mild frustration when when I see "gold coins" that are actually silver, time waster for me as a buyer. I also don't think it makes the silver look more attractive but rather less appealing being a dishonest representation of the true colour... Thoughts?

Couldn't agree more - it's a real head scratcher when I see someone selling a silver coin with a yellow hue in listing photos. I usually give them the benefit of the doubt (as long as the seller says it's silver) as coin photography can be difficult for some.
