This is one (1) option.

Look around the dealers and compare the price of snakes/dragons that are currently on offer. Select the cheapest dealer.

Then wait until the hysteria dies down before buying - also hope that the spot price remains constant in that time.

Also hope that they don't sell out in that time.
 
Dont buy in the first weeks and see how the market settles. The usual modus operandi is dealers put their prices sky-high in the first few weeks and if they sell out then they are happy. But if they dont sell out and sales are slow, dealers then usually begin to drop their prices to move stock.

not buying until its over!

"spot horse" would sell for less this year! = the coins with milk spots

I remember a similar question when the Dragon mania was on.

There were dealers taking pre-orders for coins at over $69 a pop but they didn't have an allocation from Perth.

Plenty of folk had orders that were never filled and in some cases those dealers had other peoples money for 6 to 8 weeks before giving a refund.

To ask where to get the cheapest horses is not a good idea because if someone happens to be a good samaritan and actually post a link to a dealer, that dealer will be over-run with BS emails and a rediculous amount of admin; the dealer will also raise premiums.

As per last year ... Goldstackers will have the cheapest coins. But it will be very limited. Last year we sold our entire allocation of 50 coins at SPOT.

You had to get in pretty quick. ;)

I highly recommend that if you want some SPOT horsage, you be ready to go with some unallocated ounces in reserve. ;)

I would think your relationship with your dealer/lcs will be the key factor. I wouldn't worry about getting the cheapest coin...there won't be much left to go around!!!
