I walked into one of their stores and wanted to buy something(price was $39) and they wanted my name and address to complete transaction.Is that a normal procedure for them in any of their store? I just wanna make sure Im not wasting my time again there. If I was selling I would understand they need my details but buying ? and yes it was silver but only $39 as believe it or not they waaaaayyyy under priced it :lol: . and yes I walked away...

I know spanner would know the answer for this :P
 
You could have given them fake details. Pretty sure its not an offense to provide false details to an officer of the cash converters

I bet if you ask them why.... they will say regulation etc etc... but in actual fact it would be for marketing purposes

I asked(as i always do) and was told because they are being a pawnbroker...

I am a regular at several cash converters, never been asked for personal details, I have spent over $4k in a single transaction and no a single request
 
So say you bought an item, and it turns out to be stolen due to lack of diligence on CC part, and police come and repossess it.
Does CC give the purchaser the money back, if not yikes who would want to buy stuff there.

Who ever gets caught with stolen goods looses them :eek:
The cops don't care who lost $
If crimeconverters think an item is stolen they should not buy it.
But they do :mad:
 
I wet into a cash converters a couples of times to look for bargains and didn't like the deadbeats and drug addicts that hang around them. So ditched the idea of buying anything from there coz don't want something I buy to be covered in drugs or stolen.

On that bargain theme,their valuers and sales people smoke the same drugs when it comes to pricing and assessing an item.

Cash converters sometime do sell precious metal under spot and I've been asked about my details. Upon reading this thread, I've never really thought of stolen goods to be sold though :/ now i'm concerned lol.
 
However I did find a bargain at a local pawn shop the other day. Ended up paying $75 per bag :P

This time of the year could be worth the effort to go for a "special hunt" if you have the time,extra patience (driving) and cash of course.

They are people after all looking to take peoples money before they spend it all on "fluffy toys"

As fate would have it I will be right on the front line next week in Sydney so on go my "hunting shoes" and Glock cap :cool:
