[Buying]Gold 1990 25 Yuan (.25 oz.) Chinese Panda NGC MS69_Small Date

Thanks fishy but I believe the other 35 MS69's are those that have not been distinguished as "large" or "small" so there are probably several more than 2 ...

Looking at the coinID for the varieties, they have only recently started holdering the SD variety. This looks like something you will have to buy in a "Panda" holder and get reholdered, or get graded from a raw coin.

I am sure comeaux is aware of this, but a note for the newer collectors who are looking on. Do not assume that grade rarity, or a low NGC population is immediately representative of value. Take for example the 1989 G25Y, there are only 61 graded examples, it is possible to infer this is a scarce coin, however one of my local friends has over 100 of these raw in his stack, and it is safe to assume there will be people with 1000's of these piled up somewhere. The reason the graded population is so low, is currently it adds no value. There have been many eBay auctions recently of older fractional gold pandas, going for spot + 5%, even when in a MS69 holder.

Thanks zinger and also what I was alluding to is that the 35 G25's that graded 69 had no attributes so many of those could be "small dates" as NGC graded many pandas before the actually started labeling the various date attributes on the holder.

The CC is coming ;). After it's up and running, you'll look back and be amazed that collectors ever had to wonder about these things.

The compendium is going to be Badons (and all who worked on it) master stroke.

Can't wait to see it.

For those who may have one that is in a NGC holder that is simply labeled "panda" I am still interested as I can send it in for attributes and to be re-holdered

I'll increase my offer to $1,000 which is also still negotiable
