BU What does it mean?

Talk about a newbie question but I still do not know what BU means when it comes to coins.

Yes it means brilliant uncirculated. Which means it is a normal bullion coin which has not been in circulation or handled. You normally have issued proof coins which come boxed with a certificate. The proof coin generally will have a very polished mirror like finish in the background while the BU coin will have a matt finish.

You can also have proof like...Which is BU & proof all rolled up into one.
