Kind of like buying residential property in Australia. Oh I forget, it's not fraud when the government's running it....

Applies to everything. I wasn't highlighting it to have a go at bitcoins specifically.

I should have added the sarcasm tag.

Don't think July was ever set in stone as gox never said it was definite.

Gox needs to sort it's other issues out first

What ever happened to 'LTC on MtGox in July'?

It was a good ploy to make some people a lot of BTC (probably Gox employees).

I sold about a week back for a healthy profit.

0.02 to 0.035 on big volume was an impressive trick.

Bitcoin, backed by fresh air yet the only thing with a steady growth of late...why is that?

It's backed by technology.

Currently no internet at home, been that way for 24hours. This is why bitcoins will or rather should not be the single currency of the future. Technology breaks.

Having 2kg in silver on you as walking around money is the only way forward!

I'm still trying to track down where it was stated they should be the single currency of the future though...

Hawkeye said there would be no need for gold.

When did I say silver should be money?

I don't even like silver. But I love technology even less.

Bitcoins are not a currency of freedom.

My internet has been up 24/7 for at least the past 12 months - without any noticeable interruption.

You're overlooking the fact that if the internet went down in a major way all electronic transactions would stop. That includes your supermarket, fuel, banking and just about everything else.

I doubt they'd take cash. The tellers wouldn't know how to give change. Besides cash will be eliminated soon enough.

That is why bitcoin is reliable.

Wrong on all counts. Especially the bitcoin reliability comment.

No you wouldn't - I'm not sarcastic. Caustic toward technology and our overreliance on it, but not sarcastic.

Edit to add: I'm not as easily insulted as RC.
