That's for PPS.

If you use RBPPS it is 2%.

Recent change.

Apart from the price, what is being done with Bitcoin that wasn't happening 3 months ago?

Nothing much really. In say 50 or 100 years time when historical books are written with information on Cryptocurrencies included, I doubt a "3 month" concern will be that important.

I thought I'd give ppcoin a go. Using a 7970, get a constant hashrate of around 610, temp sitting around 90c.

Started doing solo mining, but not sure how long after starting I should 'expect' to see coins hitting the wallet. So joined a pool, and it all seems to be working.

Free power thanks to solar panel credits, so no harm in trying it.
90 degrees?

That's getting to the 'dangerously' hot level, haha.

Apparently its within spec for this MSI card, but did seem high!

It turns out cgminer needed a switch to go auto fan speed. Did this, now it is at 74c and sounds like a jumbo jet :)

Yeah I mined some yesterday morning with RBPPS and its 2% fee.

They still haven't been confirmed :(

Apparently confirmation time on RBPPS is approx 72 hours.

2% fee - but you can't touch what you mine for 3 days. So I was paying the 12% to just 'have it' lol

Been toying with buying some more mining hardware - I just don't know if I am going to get my cash back is all.

3x 7950s ($289 ea)

They will produce 2.5 LtC each at current difficulty, and with a price of around $3.50 (also as of current), and power usage, probably $8/day profit.

Looking at about a month and a half now at current difficulty/price to pay off hardware.

consider fiddling with it a bit rbaggio.

It took some trying for me to get the answer I wanted but I set max fan speed to 60% and gave it a large clock range from 600-1150 mhz. this allowed cgminer to tune the clockrate to meet the 75 degree + 60% fan speed target.

so now mine is quiet but still quite productive, I expect productivity to go up and down with temperature...

Also I did need to remove it from its case and stick a fan to blow air between the GPU's I'll put a pic up later

So you think that cryptocurrencies will form a significant part of the future monetary system?

I can't tell the future and don't know. History is in the making, no matter what happens.

I don't think governments will be giving over control of the printer speed settings too easily...

Obviously. Control of currency is a big deal historically and surely into the future. Just look at American foreign policy, Central Banking, the 'petrodollar' and various wars.
Currency is one of the biggest issues on the planet.

I am merely suggesting that no matter how one wants to describe Bitcoin and crytocurrencies, history has already been made and the story continues to unfold.
Cryptocurrencies are in operation 24/7.
I could not care less if cryptocurrencies are in operation in 20 or 50 years time at this point in time.
But good history books that feature currencies will surely talk about cryptocurrencies to some degree.

Wonder when the "Rich Dad's guide to Bitcoins" book will be released ?

Bitcoin wallet service Instawallet was recently hacked, and has suspended its services indefinitely as a result (h/t The Hacker News).

"In the next few days we are going to open the claim process for Instawallet balance holders to claim the funds they had stored before the service interruption," the company stated in a notice on its Web site.

The company also listed the following information regarding the claims process:

For the first 90 days we will accept claims for individual Instawallets. Your wallet's URL and key will be used to pre-populate a form to file the claim.
After 90 days, if no other claim has been received for the same url, your Instawallet balance under 50 BTC will be refunded. If several claims have been filed for the same url, we will process those claims on a case by case basis, under the presumption that the claim we received first belongs to the legitimate balance holder.
Claims for wallets that hold a balance greater than 50 BTC will be processed on a case by case and best efforts basis.

It's not clear from the company's announcement how the service was breached, or how many Bitcoins were stolen. As The Hacker News notes, this is just one of several recent attacks on Bitcoin services -- $250,000 was stolen from BitFloor last fall, and $90,000 was taken from Bitcoinica last May.

Just another reason to be careful with your bitcoins and have them in your own hands.

Just how do you hold a digit/code/whatsit in your hand ?

I admire the skills and knowledge displayed on this thread having followed it from it's inception (not to mention the profit's made by some).

I just have this uneasy feeling that a lot of people are going to get screwed over with it all, it is a David V Goliath type scenario here but in the tech age with Goliath holding a tech nine in each hand and David in a jock strap for defence.

I know the interwebs can provide a frontier like value and can exist in an ethereal world of anonymity if one takes the proper steps and all but in reality the ability to do so would only apply to a small minority of users such as "may" exist for Silk Road types.

Drug's, Porn, Weapons, these are things that are recognised and which there are accepted markets for and for which there is also an accepted level of inside control mechanisms/corruption already inplace to derive an income stream for those who control the finances of such activity's.
Bitcoin on the other hand if it is as free from control as is purported could be seen as a threat to all and sundry as described above in a similar vein to wikileaks where all the emperors are seen as naked and could be stomped on overnight in a similar way.

A few wanna be hackers are one thing but a concerted attack from those with much to protect could see quite a few problems arise for a competitor to fiat.
