Hey Retard(really wanted to say that) look how my hash rate has improved, even though I am still at work. Seems like the litecoin miner can vary wildly, compared to my bitcoin mining which was very stable until I did something on the computer. I am using an adapted guiminer that I found as I couldn't get cgminer to work last night, who one are you using?

Looks like I am at break even for the power cost of my unit for the day. Give it 3 months litecoin take off then I can do the old dollar signs in the eyes cartoon(pretty low chance at the moment).

Yea, I am using a modified version of GUIMiner also.

It uses one of the Reaper miners though as the CGMiners also don't work for me on the AMD cards.

I love how this thread started critically of Bitcoins and now turned into a thread on how to mine them.
I'm still very critical of Bitcoins. I don't believe it's a solid model of currency.

That said, if there's currency to be made, and I've had no monetary investment (only time investment) of my own, then I see it as more of an experiment.

Today, it's worth $72, largely because of "incremental interest" from euro and Russian ruble holders who are terrified by the situation in Cyprus, said Nicholas Colas, chief market strategist at ConvergEx Group
Speculation at best, I have seen no credible reason to believe the Cyprus event has driven the recent rise...

It was already on the rise well before Cyprus. My guess is people saw rising prices and wanted to get in on the action. That drove a spurt upwards. The general increasing lack of faith in banking as a whole worldwide is a factor but not a main driver atm imo.

One thing that I can't keep figuring out is why it is more profitable to mine litecoins instead of bitcoins before this recent difficulty jump(don''t know if still is). The fellow nerds know something and still control both currency and will continue for a some time I believe. Just think their is going to be something in mining litecoins which I guess a year will tell us.

Guess silver stackers is about helping others BB, which is the original role for a forum I guess but is good to see not enough of it in the world.

Just kicked off ltcmine.ru worker. See how this goes.

My litecoin mining program keeps crashing on the higher levels of intensity of guiminer-scrypt, at the supposed level for my gpu - level 18 intensity.. just using default settings..

It mines so much faster than bitcoin.. but yeah with the crash issues i wont be using it much until i suss them out..

Makes sense to get into it early.. so thanks for the heads up.. the wallet has a miner built in.. anyone tried it? the wallet loads so fast!

Also... anyone tried the free bitcoin/ litecoin sites? You just enter in your wallet and a captcha code... i have no stats as ive just started researching but give findings..

My 6970 is running 18 intensity and works flawlessly.
Pulling 480kH/s

My 7970 doesn't like intensity over about 13-14, but is doing about 630kH/s on that.

Fine by me!

Ok im running a 6970 too..

vectors 1
thread concurrency 8000
worksize 256
gpu threads 1

have you altered your GPU settings at all? i have the latest drivers and can mine faster on guiminer for bitcoin without it ever crashing..

It's a Gigabyte 6970, that's factory overclocked so that might be why it can handle a bit more.

I've got thread concurrency at 12000, worksize 256, intensity 18, vectors 1, gpu threads 1.

And that's sitting on 480kH/s

Trying to get a Mt Gox account verified for my wife
Your Position in the Verification Queue 6300

Now the question in my mind is are those 6300 waiting for verification so they can sell or buy. The recent price rises indicate to me the majority of them might be buying.

The Mt Gox verification queue size is huge right now!!!

I would suggest a good portion may be more like me, and want to trade BTC - so they would be both buyers and sellers, creating volume more than anything.

Some serious cash to be made trading these right now, its been a 1 way bet for weeks now and is showing no signs of stopping (yet).

I initially registered with Mt Gox to get in on the game at queue position 3920 & a week later I'm down to 2250.

Was too slow so I reg with Omnicoins & had the coins the same afternoon. I was happy with the trading margin $200 up on my initial invest. keep goin baby.

I am closing in. One card muwawawa
Haha.

I just leave the 6970 on all the time.

I don't like the idea of running my main rig card at 100% activity 24/7.

Price currently 86.99. How long until we drop the cents when talking about the price ala gold?

Getting close to the billion market cap. Still tiny in comparison and largely unknown even amongst investors. 10 billion which would be close to $1000 per coin still not all that much money on a global scale really.

Closing in on my $99 target much quicker than I thought.

Looking forward to maybe cashing out soon (then watching the rest of you get even richer while it goes to $200 haha).
