When does the US Government have a hearing about Bitcoins/virtual currency? 18 Nov?

Yep. I wonder how that's going to go.

Like Silk Road went.

Do you really expect the governments of the world to allow an untraceable currency to flourish and grow into widespread use ?

This is war to certain degree, IMO. (A war that few saw coming)

Don't think there is a lot they can do about it. Poor buggers might have to remonetize gold in the end just to compete with BTC.

It's not hard to think up lots of things they could do about it once it is declared illegal.

What operating system is your computer or mobile device running ?
Bet it's owned by an American company.

I will not sell any BTC below AU$10,000 nor LTC below AU$1,000. I would rather hold them till they bust out and risk going to nothing than to sell them prematurely.

Looks like the UK is treating Bitcoins as "vouchers", meaning they are to have VAT slapped on the entire value of a transaction when buying BTC. That's a bit nasty.

Yep. All it takes is bitcoin to get linked to terrorists - then it is a war.

It is already war. Bankers are missing out on a minuscule fraction of their transaction fees and such NOW.
More and more businesses are setting up to accept Bitcoins.

Bitcoin has already been 'tied to drugs' by just about every lame MSM propaganda machine out there.
Sure, every dirty card will be pulled out.

I know what side I'm on, and know it comes with risks. F-c- the Feds and Govts.

Increasingly the MSM is reporting 'feel good' stories on Bitcoin, like that one about the guy who bought an apartment with what originally cost him $27 worth of BTC in 2009.

Looking at the top prices in USD in the last 24 hours:

BTC China - $431 USD (2630 CNY)
Mt.Gox - $395
Bitstamp - $363
BTC-e - $349

In five days...

BTC China - $451 USD (2750 CNY) - up 4.6% on previous high
Mt.Gox - $457 - up 15.7%
Bitstamp - $430 - up 18.5%
BTC-e - $425 - up 21.8%
