Biggest rip-off on ebay~~~

looks like they've moved onto "999 mills" gold. There's no such thing as 999 mills - it's an invented term by scammers.

I thought it could be referring to the coating being 999 millionths of an inch thick, but thats probably the glass half full side of me giving them the benefit of the doubt.
The more cynical side of me would say its a downright filthy lie trying to fleece money from some poor unsuspecting victim, by using identical (yet misleading) terms to lure the poor PM newbies to their doom.

Unfortunately feebay seem on the most part uninterested to deal with it - i mean how hard would it be to outright ban all sales from the coins section that included the terms mills, german silver etc etc.

The seller pulled it , I had a few emails with him
The last message I sent him said

"Just because you got ripped of on it ,now your trying to rip somebody else of
Do you even know the price of gold ? "

:D

Gees mine said (in an earlier exchange):

... you can justify it anyway you want .. youre still a f*cking thief.

I didnt want to go too hard on the guy

Don't......

Taking on strangers can lead to problems for yourself.

I took on a bad eBay listing & ended up with him finding personal/private details about me & family.

Not worth the trauma.....

There is only so far you should play with strangers.

Both , in tougher times people go to further lengths to make $ in harder time .
Crime gets more violent as well .

EXCELLENT point!!!

Etiquette gone out the window with this eBay seller / spammer.
Probably pissed that he got caught.
Good result but pretty abusive to spannermonkey.
Should report his bad attitude to eBay and request he is struck off for his abusive responses.
I think there is a code of conduct somewhere in the smallprint.

Dear spannermonkey70,

Hahahahahahahaha typical spanner, nice work mate

is 999mills better than 100mills
2741_1511767.gif

As a former scientist a mill would normally represent one millioneth of a meter ( 10 E - 6 ) referred to as a micron.
999 mills would therefore have a plating thickness of 1mm ( 10 E -3 ) which is thick plate.

In some areas a "mil" can be used to describe a "thou" or one thousandath of an inch.
One thousand "thous" would be an full inch so we can safely assume that this bar is not 2 inches thick - coating both sides.
A 100 mills coating assuming the "thou" would be 1/10 of an inch or 2.54 mm so in this terminology 100 mills would be better.

Confused ?

Yes

I used to work on an automated lathe ,so don understand but in more simple terms

When your talking in mm = bees shlong in my dictionary :D
But that depends if it's a bees shlong on a flop or fat
I made up that " bees shlong " when I was a screen printer in the 80's

It didn't even look like gold... It looked like some cheap brassy looking toy knockoff you might buy for $2 at a flea market.
