Best Silver Buy?

Have a little extra $$ (around $450) which I was thinking to pick up some additional silver.

Was thinking of a roll of 20x 1/2 oz silver dragons.
Would that be a good pick up for the stack or is there a better investment option?

Thanks for the post and PMs. :)

So if you had around $450, what silver would you invest in?

I'm getting a sense than the 1/2 oz dragons may not be best option.
(Doesn't have to be Lunar but I am slight biased to it.)

10oz Dragon for me

Same here (or 2 x 5oz), then a few x 1oz "whatever is best value" for the change eg 3 Cougars (I like these, not that an emotional attachment is a GOOD thing as such, but they are pretty.)

1/2oz is not too hot atm.. but when silver goes to $100.. that's gonna be a different story (i'm dreaming.. i know)

My preference ATM in order:

2012 Taku 1/2 oz
Scottsdale 1/4 and 1/10 rounds.
Generic Dragon Rounds
1982-1984 Libertads
1992 Kooks (cos now cheap!)
Dragon w/ lion Privvy (cos now cheap!)
2011 Kooks
2012 Taku 1oz
2012 Kook
RCM Moose - great design and rather limited.. would be higher if not for Milk Pox likelyhood
2012 Panda
2012 Buffalos
2012 ASE's .... cheap and famous
2 oz Drags
1/2 Drags
10 oz Drags
5 oz Drags (more $$$)

Things to stay clear of:

PM products - but especially proof or coloured PM product (and kooks at premiums) Koala 2012 is nasty + heaps of time to buy if you must
Any proof coin with a huge premium
Dragons -- be weary of over supply and a worn out demand - esp at hefty premiums!

Don't forget Gilded!

1/2 oz has a high premium, 10oz are better value for money but it depends what you can buy them for, if you see some cheap silver just grab it, sometimes you see them in markets where the owner has fatigue from putting the prices up and down as spot moves.

Sure.. 1/2 oz carries a premium.. fractional always does. but what about the 5 oz? I cant understand why its like $190? To me the 5oz is the WORST value for money..

Lets calc costs: (The 1/2 price is based on roll of 20, 2 oz price based on roll of 5)

Based on these results (no postage costs) (bullion Bourse pricing) the best value for money appears to be the 2oz, the WORST appears to be the 5oz? Anyone dissagree.. obviously the 10 oz is great value. I still rate the 1/2 but yes the manufacturing costs blow out the per ounce price.

Thanks for doing the maths... I thought the 5oz was cheap but gonna hold out for 2oz over the next few weeks assuming the pricing stays similar.

i think 5oz is targetted for a different market.
notice the face value of 5oz is $8 instead of $5 ;)

I did notice that recently yes, hardly a reason to justify the extra spend but im in agreence the 5oz seems to have addtional intrinsic value for a reason i am currently unable put my finger on (isoate).. the higher cost prevented me from purchasing more than the one to complete the set but always interesting to note investor sentiment and overwhelming support for this size despite.

Yup they know the 5oz a fav and they charge accordingly :(

I agree that the 5oz is higher oz for oz when compared to the 2oz but if you use the 4 x 5 oz deal on BB website the 5oz is $0.50 per oz more than the 2oz. I think that this is worth it and the 5 oz has become my favorite size.

Over in the UK I managed to buy the 5oz Dragon for less than half the price of the 10oz. Yet I can see some sellers asking a hefty premium for the 5oz but don't really know why. I am assuming that the early demand pushed up the prices like the 1oz and the premium formula remains.
