Best Dragon yet

Even with the high mintage the price for those coins doubled in a few months, I think many of the coins were "trapped" with the colored coins.

Mintage doesn't equal demand or value. My contact at CGCI said she thought this was a better buy than the plum blossom (that has a lower mintage)...

I can't see any logic in that comment and I've heard it from a few sources.

It's not logic as much as an observation of the market. The round proof sold out faster than the plum blossom and the few places that still had the round one jacked the prices, so the round one was more in demand (and was initially cheaper too).

Also, as I said earlier, unlike the 60 000 plum blossoms, not all the 200 000 round ones were available in single coin sets but many are part of colored sets, gold sets, etc (which are all much more expensive).

What do you mean by that thatguy?
Pertmint has bullion dragons and proof dragons... If the did not have bullion versions I would not buy the proof versions.

Sort of a tiered effect with bullion at the base, proof in the middle and coloured at the top in respect to demand that can be justified.

The bigger the base the more numi that will be demanded and thus justified

Then the market is illogical. :) And not all the plum blossoms are available individually either. The plum blossom sell for more in nearly every previous issue of lunars and at Panda America the round ones are $10 more than the flowers - so I can't understand how that makes the round a better buy.

Most people buy the Chinese dragons because they like dragons. And if the round is 720 yuan and the plum blossom is 1380 then they will buy the round one.

The only proof PM dragon is the high relief one anyway? And lots of BU ones sold for proof prices, and specimen sold for even higher prices...

Wait, doesn't everyone think colored coins are gimmicky and bad buys?

Mintage of the small gold plum blossom is only 8000, the mintage of the colored 1 oz silver is 220 000...

My 2oz colored Dragons arrived today. Best colorized coin of the lunar series to date IMHO. Only thing is I reckon they should have colorized the fireball rather than leaving it silver.
