Belgium-France Napoleon coin scandal - a new coin worth collecting?

Hi,

A new 2.5 EUR coin was issued by Belgium commemorating the defeat of Napoleon at Waterloo - but France didn't like the idea at all. So now, Belgium is destroying a bunch of the coins. From what I've read, they're purging about 180,000 already minted coins.

Some are still out there, ready to be bought. But how many, I do not know. I saw some selling at 25-30 $. Not a cheap buy.

I wonder if this has numismatic potential...

If you have any info about how many there are "out there", then don't hesitate to share.

Some sellers state there would be about 70,000 out there. Not sure whether it's true.

I'm not so much a fan of the genre, but I think it might have some numismatic potential.

I'd like some of those to go with my Zimbabwe notes.
I reckon h they would we worth getting some. Not for the numi potential as I don't think that would be realised for a long time... imo

I bought some of the 2 1/2 coins.
Euro collecting is taking a flight in Europe.
Coincards bought in 2011 for 9,95 are sold between 60 and 85.
Thats beter then some bullion purchases i've made...

On second hand sites just like Ebay but then only for the Netherlands/Belgium.
The "Erasmus 2011" coincard is doing superb.

Any tips for those overseas looking to buy some for a good price?

The coincards where only for sale at a museumshop at the Battleground in Belgium.
Price from the shop is 6 euro for 1 coincard.

For 11 euro I can buy them on the bay including shipping.

Yes,

These coins are taken from bigger eurosets.
Selling them a part will give bigger profits for the sellers.
In my opinion these will generate less profit in the future.
