Beach Detecting, What is best?

Hi I am new to detecting and wondered if experienced treasure hunters would mind telling me if from your experience what is best at the beach.

Ie looking up on the dry sand where sunbathers have been or when the tide is out on the wet sand.

I know both are just chance but wondered if one may give me better odds than the other.

I have access to metal detectors that work well in dry and wet sand conditions.

Thanks for any opinions or advice.
 
can you share what you found out? was it by the water line or on the dry sand? thanks heaps!
