Back to the Future commemorative coins ready for launch

I like the delorean the best too, would definitely be one to go for if mintage was bit less. The best comparison might be the doctor who which if I remember correctly had a mintage of 10000.

Doctor Who could be a good comparison. On the other hand, I'd argue that it is a lot better known/loved series than Back to the Future. I've heard far more people talk about Doctor Who than Back to the Future. Perhaps Lord of the Rings and/or the Hobbit? However, both trilogies are substantially more recent.

I'll admit upfront, that I could very easily be wrong on all this. However, I just find a lot of the interest in Back to the Future day feels manufactured to me. It's an easy to target, single day event.

I just bought a full set from Perth Bullion so unless I got the last one, They have all three pieces in stock.

Yeah but the hover board is limited to 1 per a customer hence why I bought the second set from gold stackers

Load up on the hoverboards, compares to the 2010 melbourne cup coins which sold out in 4 days (mintage of 5000). These have sold out in one. Same issue price.

Get in on it!!!!

The Hoverboard is pad printed, just like every other Perth Mint coloured coin - no stickers

Just putting it out there again - been a long time since a non-Lunar release crashed the Perth Mint website and sold the quantity that they did on launch day.

Pardon my ignorance is that a good thing or bad thing?

Don't worry just gave it a thought and I figured pad is better than sticker?

Pad printing is the direct permanent application of inks to the metal surface, one colour at a time. Permanently coloured as long as you don't try to clean them with paint stripper.

Rather cool to watch in person. There's probably a promotional video somewhere on the Perth Mint YouTube channel from a few years ago showing it.

PerthBullion still has ALOT of the 1oz DeLoreans from a quick check

So the popularity winner seems to be the Hover Board?
I know the mintage is a lot lower, and hence lower allocation to each dealer, but it seems to relatively the more popular one?

I like the DMC better mintage is maybe a bit high, hoverboard good mintage but expensive, I worked on a hedge type system :D

The car is more popular even with the higher mintage, I barely remember the hover board from the movie ,but who can forget the car... :P

If you are older, you remember and love the car.. Born < 1975

If you are younger, you remember and love the hoverboard.. Born Born > 1975

Am I right? Am I right? haha.. :D

Went to Perth Bullion and saw the car listed at AUD $122.73. Did the conversion and saw that it was USD $88 and change and figured it was a sign so picked one up.

I'm guessing the Hoverboards are sold out everywhere? I had one in my cart, but it disappeared when I went to the checkout, someone must have beaten me by only minutes.
