Where i am in the phillipines the average wage is 250-350 pesos a day & they have to pay around 180 pesos for a bbq chicken . Imagine it costing half a days wages or more for a dead bird ...We are very lucky

While America seems to be getting worse by the day, I'm happy to say it has not got bad enough that half my days wage goes to buying lunch. Yikes!

I find it amazing your minimum is $18. That's a "good" paying job around here.

$18 per hour is a low paid job over here. Normally reserved for people who do not have a trade, skills, or experience.

To put it in perspective, I have a very good friend, with a college degree, that is a school teacher educating our next generation.....she makes less then $18/hr.

To put that in perspective, 20 years ago I worked for a builder who paid $16 per hour. Admitidly it was casual rates which are higher than full-time rates. That was the award (goverment minimum) wage at that time.
