I don't understand how this would help? If you have to tether to your phone and it has no real time GPS tracking capabilities then what benefit would you get from attaching it to a parcel? The last location would always be the post office...

Apparently you mark it as a 'lost item' and you'll be notified of its whereabouts. Some guy used a similar product called Trackr to find his stolen bike 10 days later.
