Aus dollar to be worthless within two decades, worse than toilet paper

The Australia NewZealand Currency union will require a new design:

ZUCK BUCKS said:
As the NZD approaches parity with the AUD, thoughts naturally turn to currency denationalisation and the formation of a currency union spanning Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania.

Debate around kitchen tables and internet forums tend to focus on the legitimacy of neoliberal theories of global capitalism embedded within the denationalisation of currencies, and the contradictions between capital accumulation, social stability and political legitimation in a world where nation states no longer have economic authority and where labour is subordinated to the imperative of a common ideology that promotes the primacy of capital.*

However, I'd like to turn attention to the important issue of the design of the so called ANZAC buck (the ZUCK as they are known colloquially).

I am concerned that the proposed 100 dollar bill, the "Poida", has an entirely unrealistic wind-powered mega trawler off the coast of New Zealand. Was this added to placate the Greens? Its ridiculous.

THAT's your issue with the bill???? The boat?!?!?!?! LOLOLOL
I'm completely fine with the marijuana leaf in the corner. The smokes and the beer are probably a bit questionable, especially given that a VB can was chosen. Not the best beer in my opinion.

It has so far cost $9.3 million and is two years behind schedule according to that three year old article. No sign of them yet...

They should just go with The Poida. They can have it royalty free.

They will make some new ones anyway. The queen has a new portrait out for the latest coins so it is not like it is going to be a major issue. I doubt they will recall all the old coins unless they intend to change the size or metal composition at the same time.

Of course it will be worth zero in 20 years. We'll have a single world currency in 5.

Wrong, ......... when London is frozen over for 9 months of the year, and San Francisco and Los Angeles breaks off into the ocean, Jennifer Anniston and all her millions is going to want to be somewhere that is safe, as in an island, relatively unpolluted, under populated and welcoming.
That's here mate !
:)

Or New Zealand.

The Reserve Bank of Australia has been working on creating new, "youthful"-looking bank notes for the past five years, it's been reported.

They might consider putting extra zeros at the end ... Zimbabwe style.
