G'day Folks,

On offer this time round some great Aussie examples of 22k Gold "Real Money" goodness

A 1881 Melbourne Mint "Young Head" Queen Victoria Sovereign, a 1899 Sydney Mint "Veiled Head" Queen Victoria Sovereign, a 1913 Sydney Mint King George V Sovereign and a 1980 Royal Australian Mint $200 Koala :D

Auction finish at 18:00 WST (20:00 QLD/NSW/VIC - 19:30 SA) - Sunday 30th May...Tomorrow Night!!!

ALL Lots finishing at the same time!! *With the usual "5 minutes after Final bid" actual finish for each particular Lot (Forum Timestamp used) *

Any valid bid for a particular Lot extends the Finish for ALL Lots!!
ie. The Auction will be Officially over once ALL bids have finished!!

*No edited Bids, please :) the Forum does indicate "edited" when posts are edited (look above the "Quote Reply" right hand side) so if you make a bid and it turns out the same or lower than a previous bid please place a new post for the bid to make it higher rather than "edit" the post with the unsuccessful bid - although editing to clarify a Lot # is fine  *

Due to no "seconds" showing on Forum time-clock  any duplicate bids with the same timestamp will be "first in line" gets the spot ;)

Starting at ~SPOT price!!!

Postage at Winner's Choice/Cost/Risk (at this stage...)

BONUS – FREE 1oz Copper Round(s) for winners of Multiple Lots

And without further ado, on to the Auction...

Homework assignment...what does the phrase, shown on the old "real" money, "DEI GRATIA" mean?
I only recently learned this, I'm sure some of our seasoned Stackers already know, but curious how many don't o_O
Bonus points for "REX" and "REGINA" as they go with the above mentioned phrase

By the Grace of God Regina (Queen) or Rex (for King)

Well done Squire, to the front of the class you go

Interesting that our "old money" used to be "blessed" by the "Defender of the Faith" and by the "Grace of God" i.e. God's Money, Real Money
Now, if we're lucky, we have "Company Scrip" (govmint fiat) or imaginary "1"s and "0"s o_O

They are desperately trying to convince you that "real money" (Gold & Silver) is just a "barbarous relic"
"Don't waste your time holding that old stuff, get ya some of our 'new and improved' Fairy Dust" (much better, we can create this stuff out of thin air )

Section 115 of our Constitution.

Double Bonus Points Sir @Shlomo Goldberg , funny that this is ingrained in many GovMint Constitutions (the Articles we use to control them o_O)
"Nothing, other than Gold and Silver, SHALL be used as Legal Tender"

Rex. Regina. Same same is like in Gods we trust the King or Queen of any land. The gods hold gold and silver. And the peasants hold plastic legal tender monopoly IOU slips

Agreed, but the Peasants can (at least for the moment) still hold Gold and Silver, which I think is making the "Rulers" worried
