[Auction] Multiple Vintage Items, Ends 25/9 @10am BNE Time

Can I ask about the postage here. If postage is $13 and one person wins three auctions they will be paying $39 in postage.

There's no postage charges, I'll be covering all the postage costs. The postage will be a lot more than $13 as I'll be covering the insurance premium as well which is done in $100 block increments and is more than the postage alone.

what I mean is that if someone buys the 3 sovs there is a saving on postage. But the postage is inbuilt so we end up paying the inbuilt cost 3 times even though it’s being sent in one parcel. I’d be able to bid more if the postage was separate. Anyway, I’m not meaning to be problematic, I’m just pointing something out that’s going to impact the prices we bid.

The postage is built into the price. The postage is not free.

Let’s assume the intrinsic value of the coins is $375 each and postage costs the seller $15 per coin if posted separately.

If the postage was not included someone might bid $370 per coin plus $15 combined postage ($5 for each coin x3 =$15) = $375 per coin.

The seller gets 370x3 = $1110 in his hand after postage.

If he sells them to three different people who are willing to pay the intrinsic value of $375 he will get 375x3-(15x3). It’s only $30 less but there is also extra time involved.

$10 per coin difference.

A buyer who wants all three coins should have an advantage and would have an advantage if the auction was “plus postage” but in this case they don’t.

This is how the rich get richer.

Sorry for the long-winded explanation but I was surprised by your answer.

To Craig321. Don't overthink it. Just lurk around the various auctions and trades and see how it all works.

I don't really see how it makes any significant difference and honestly I did it for free postage and 1 cent no reserve over the school holidays for a bit of fun more than anything. Plus then you don't need to worry about adding anything, what you bid is all you pay.

The Insurance is going to be the higher cost for myself than the postage, which is based on total value so sending 3x parcel worth $400 each or 1x parcel worth $1,200 is going to be the same Insurance cost for myself. Technically it will actually work out cheaper sending each coin separately as Australia Post covers the first $100 anyway.

The pre-paid letters I bought in bulk over 10 years ago so only cost me 65 cents and the Registered Labels I get for $2.50 each in bulk. Sooo I am more than happy to post all 3x coins separately to the same person if they prefer, that suits me better with the Insurance. I am not sure how it makes it 'unfair' to any specific buyer. If anything it would be unfair to someone who lives local and wants to pay cash on pick-up, that to me would seem more unfair.

Hey. Sorry. I’ve taken this way off the topic which is the coins. Didn’t mean to say it was unfair. I want you to get the best price. The coins are brilliant and everything is good. Definitely no criticism of you from my end. As admin says the topic is closed. Just wanted to say that it was a discussion and not supposed to cause offence.
