Auction - Limited Mintage SGB & XAG Silver

Gday all Jan 2014 SGB will release 2 new rounds.
The first one will be the 3rd round in The series of dissent ' too big to fail ' which we put pics up of in the new year.
Secondly I would like to introduce you to ' Ra ' the Egyptian sun god, another project we have had on the go.
The ancient Egyptians had another name for the phoenix: Bennu, aka "He who came into being by himself". The myth goes that the bird created itself from a burning holy tree. The Bennu is supposed to be the soul of the Egyptian Sun God called Ra. The Egyptian phoenix looked like a heron.
We however have taken a more traditional looking phoenix reaching out too embrace the sun god Ra.
Total Mintage 8888.
8800 Bullion rounds.
Extremely limited proof of 88 units.

Hey @SilverBags, thanks for that (was wondering where I'd seen the totals ;))
When I initially did the description for the "Ra" listed here I did describe it as the "bullion" version, but it turns out it's the same Proof coin as were used in the 88 boxed/numbered versions o_O
I know when SGB were doing these, back in the day, that they had a lot of trouble getting the "clean" version that iceblue was looking for (lots, apparently, ended up back in the pot to "try again" :oops:...I recall "milk-spotting" was an issue :rolleyes:).
Had 3 of these, back from the initial run, and as clean as they were, there was some VERY minor spots on a couple of them...
So, having a "spare" one of these "bullion" versions, I decided to remove it from the OMP to have a look at just what the "bullion" version is (a little hard to tell through the capsule/plastic layers) and it turns out they are the same Proof style as the limited edition ones are :eek:

As you can see, there are some milk-spots (fairly minor, imho), but there appears to be a slight milky haze as well :confused:
Now, beauty is in the eye of the beholder :p but I really think it gives quite a stunning overall appearance to the round (and every one would be different (I think, not going to open any others up) :D)
But, it still raises the question as to just how many Bullion/OMP versions of the Ra were minted (given we know there were 88 of the boxed/numbered variety)...
And as ALL the "Series of Dissent" rounds were the same 8888 "Maximum Mintage" (but significantly lower at final count), these "Bullion/OMP" versions would definitely be far less than 8800 (I reckon), and could even possibly be a lower population than the boxed/numbered version...or even the SGB Penguins (which topped out at 52) ;)

Hi guys. Just confirming the above about the Ra rounds.

Problems around getting the mirror finish on them right. I returned a boxed one that was 'milky'. Didn't see or buy any unboxed but certain total sold would be lower than the lowest dissent series coin.

Aussie made and not common.

G'day @Eureka Moments, thanks for piping in (been a while since I've seen you pop up ;) happy you're still kicking :p)
And cheers for confirming (and thinking the same myself :D) that these "unboxed" versions are rarer than initially thought :eek:...might actually be some of the "Panda Patina" versions that iceblue was originally trying to avoid doing :rolleyes: (some of the "old-timers" might get the reference there :cool:)
