Argentina: A Textbook Case Of Government Gone Mad

Very good read. Fascinating to think in terms of the Italian heritage - but I thought, at least Italy knows to hang on to gold!

This was my favourite line

There is a lesson to be learned from all of this, and I think it is a very important one. When it comes right down to it, any government not just the Argentine government, but the US government as well will simply do whatever it thinks it needs to do to keep the status quo intact, with no moral or ethical considerations.

I thought it was the Spanish that populated the Southern Americas?

Gorgeous Dark Swarthy Women, Siestas.... that's Spanish stuff :)

Although many Italians did migrate to Argentina, it is definitely of Spanish (and early British) heritage.
I don't think this guy knows much about what he is talking about - doesn't even know anything about the country's history.

Basically an American talking about how you can live like a king in Argentina as long as you've got wealth elsewhere and don't have to actually make a living there.
Everything else he is saying is most likely crap he's picked up here and there - I wouldn't put any trust in it.

Not to say the govt is not totally corrupt, which it is, and has been for a long time.

Agree. Sounds like a grand place to live like a king. Beats Thailand, Phillipines or any of those other dumps.

Interesting how the US$ is king and gold/silver aren't part of the culture.

Wonder why PMs were never popular esp considering the country is not called The Argentine for nothing.

Are we sure they're not talking about another country beginning with A...

"The current Argentine Australian government is dominated by true believers young people who have that idealistic notion of equality for all, and who believe that government mandates can fix anything that ails. They are hardcore socialists, leaning towards communism. But, as is the case in the United States, they really don't know what they are doing and so pursue policies that are incredibly shortsighted. They are uninformed as far as history and economics are concerned and blunder from one harebrained policy to another. There is literally nothing that they will not try."
