If you think people who are pro 2nd amendment (pro guns) fantasize about violence, ie killing people, then you are a complete fool.

That would be like saying those who are pro choice (pro abortion rights) take joy and pleasure in snuffing out the lives of unborn babies.

Far too often, many (if not most) people make the mistake of conflating one thing for another....that thing they despise, don't know much about, or they are just jumping on one political bandwagon or another.

I am neither Conservative nor Liberal.....I am truly an independent thinker who is not aligned with Left or Right politics in the U.S.

I am pro gun ownership in the sense that I think people who don't have any screws loose upstairs should be able to purchase a firearms for protection. That said, I am in favor of very stringent gun regulation. The gun is not the problem but far too often, people on the political Left in the U.S. have convinced themselves and perhaps some gullible people that the inanimate gun always behaves with malice.....

I was not looking for any controversy , I was just expressing views on guns - ammo - an investment in a unique way .

But to get down to brass tack's , The name - Psychos - might as well be the coin term for people who commit murder. but as of now it's clear a very real individual is growing . Suicide bombers , Suicide shooters with precipitous actions .
These individuals have no consideration for us .
just one aspect of life, simplicity We save silver for the future ,
these individuals view the future far from how you or me see the future.
Aside from homicide bomber's - The array of other Homicider's with Profile's would need a forum all to it self .

I conduct myself as such . I pass background checks , I keep my guns hidden . I will not buy a gun for the other guy (who can't get a gun)
I will not Run guns for profit .

Now that I have a gun , I would never want to not have one .
Silver and guns share a polarized relationship & opposite in conversation as they are and not .
Gold and Silver is a hedge against Fiat .

This reality has just started . In America the left only wants to bring in unknown
people with intentions that are equal to Europe disasters.

So sadly for better or worse I've been taking my silver investment moneys and building
an arsenal - - 12 Ga riot shot gun 20 Ga Mossberg 20 Ga savage 38 special 22 LR & Mag single action pistol
naturally investment in Amo is also necessary
A 45 colt pistol is next .

I still buy silver and gold but is this also a good investment ? I am coming to my conclusion with guns
& I was spurned on due to worries of gun control .

I agree trouble is coming and I think it has been planned. Do what you have to do.

If you live in the US and can legally obtain firearms you definitely should. Not because you will be fighting against the US gov or some other country's army, but because the "locals" might get a little crazy if the gov ever has to shut off the "free stuff". Imagine the "protests" you will see when that day comes. As you know, "protest" is key word for looting, pillaging, killing, etc, because we are not talking about the olden days protests, but instead like what you have seen in recent years (think Ferguson, etc). Besides that, violent crime is high in many urban areas here and you can't count on a cop saving you if you get attacked- when seconds count the police are only minutes away as they say.

I recommend Glock for handguns for home protection and carry if you don't mind carrying a larger gun (highly reliable and virtually indestructible), although my concealed carry gun is a Smith and Wesson 642 (and 442) because they are light, have no external hammer to catch on pocket and don't print in my front pocket in a pocket holster- although I don't really care for the .38 special caliber but I use Speer Gold dot 38 plus p rounds so the pros outweigh the cons.

I am glad many states moved to allow concealed carry in recent years. I am more glad millions have obtained their licenses as the law allows. I doubt you will get many positive comments here regarding guns though Copperhead since there is a high number of folks from anti-gun ownership countries. These types have no clue what it is like to live in the US and to daily face threats from violent criminals that they will never see in their countries like we have here and in such numbers.

PS I would sell my silver before my guns if I ever got that desperate for cash. I don't think we will see any real attempt to remove the 2nd amendment, at least not for a while. I guess if the US public schools and universities can keep churning out programmed progressive libs that are more interested in trying to pass laws that let men who think they are women use the ladies' bathroom, etc, than what is happening to the rest of the country, we may be doomed in the future. You choose to take away the rights of many based on faulty reasoning- and on the premise you are smarter than everyone else (just like the progressive lib leaders do although they have armed guards to protect them from dangerous criminals, unlike the sheep which they indoctrinate and remove rights from- people like you Trew).

If you want a handgun you need to be a member of a club and go shooting at least once a month.

There is a club in my town. Other than that you can get a shotgun or rifle legally and just have to have them in a safe and secure location at home. You can not get any semi automatic weapons in Australia.

Still plenty of shooters in the countryside....

Surprise - I'm an active sporting shooter and firearm collector.

Reason firearm discussions were discouraged on Silver Stackers while I lived in Australia was for member protection - I did not want to be dealing with a "request I couldn't ignore" for user data because someone spouted their mouth off and posted something that solicited the attention of authorities. It has happened to other forums in Australia on firearm related topics. I've had the AFP request a copy of the entire database before because of a thread on here about counterfeits (I declined, and they declined to get a warrant), but I didn't need to run the gamut of the state police in every state because someone foolishly posts how they would blow an intruder's brains out etc. It's been a pretty good balance, and now that the forum is no longer domiciled in Australia, less of an issue.

The biggest issue I see with firearms in the US now that I'm here is ease of access to people who generally are incompetent - and I believe a lot of that incompetence stems from lack of any family history of firearm ownership, so there's been no gun safety ingrained since a young age. New buyer goes out to buy a gun to "protect themself", fills out their background check form, 3 days later they've got a loaded double action revolver in the drawer next to their bed that they've never fired. Grandkids come over, problems ensue.

Or the "familiarity breeds contempt" approach - basic gun safety gets lax, then gets ignored, finally safety is thrown out the window. Kid shoots their brother because dad leaves a loaded Glock under the coffee table.

Easier for me to buy a semi-auto pistol than it was to get a Florida drivers licence.

I genuinely think that there needs to be better education or training before ownership - stuff the three day cooling off period, put in a "demonstrate you're competent" clause instead.

I have no interest in changing your country - it's your system, do what you want with it.


I prefer living in a country where automatic weapons and handguns are banned and you prefer to have all your citizens carry guns around.

You-tube has many and I mean MANY subscribers who virtually teach about safety
if you have a computer there is no excuse to not learn of gun safety.

Gosh if you have children, you'd have to be nuts to leave a loaded gun in a draw .
Pulling a trigger and it's result is about a fast as the speed of sound. NEVER test the curiosity of a child.

When you have a chance to use a 20 Gauge shot gun (12 even more) you are humbled
and see a truth of the devastating force of a simple Bolt action 20 Gauge
in reality you don't need much more .
It is exciting to see all the offerings of the gun industry , want or have if your so inclined
but a simple Bolt action 20 Gauge is all you need .

If the world ever got so you need more then a simple Gun you will get shot by
your opponents that have taken over the country.

An unloaded gun for home protection? You may as well call it a paperweight. If someone cannot safely keep a loaded gun in their home, then they probably don't belong having one in the first place if their desire is home defense. If some bad $hit goes down you will not have time to load your gun nor remove it from a gun safe in a moment of terror. They do have easy access gun safes where you slide your hand on top and push a couple of buttons and the safe opens quickly letting you have your loaded gun. I don't have kids running around my house so I don't have the same worries others do. I just have to worry about the occasional crazy female visitor who might decide to shoot me if I p!$$ her off, which is entirely possible.

If someone just wants a gun for hunting/target, etc, then go ahead and keep it unloaded and locked in the safe.


PS I have enjoyed my time here but I am tired of always being the guy arguing with countless posters. You all have fun and good luck with your silver/gold. I am taking a vacation from here. Tired of making waves.

No guns are not PMs they are tools like tractors or screwdrivers. Some people have use of them some not. Some people are fit to operate a tractor on a public road, some are not, most people are completely incapable of making a rational decision in a confrontational situation. Although I am a shooter I think the current US obsession with concealed carry and junk semis is the death of shooting sports (and even guns as defensive items). A whole breed of utter nutjobs focused on loony tunes politics who never grew up shooting have rushed out to buy tat that has been marketed it to them heavily along with a vast junk gluct of macguns rubbish like rail laden tactical glocks and ars and CCW Saturday sock specials.. Once apon a time US shooters valued things like exhibition grade walnut stocks and good hunting calibres like 270s. Now its idiots carrying loaded guns in public with rounds in the chamber in coffee shops (these people seem vile to me, most soldiers do not need to walk around with a round chambered in warzones but these morons need a round chambered to buy a coffee). Even NRA members from the 70s would be horrified at the idiocy in the US that has become rampant and will ultimately result in guns being banned. Programs like the CMP are dying as are field sports and competition small bore. That angers me as a shooter. Why are the US gun industry pushing people to walk out and buy centre fire handguns and rifles as a first gun before they have even learned how to shoot without a flinch on a .22. Because of the millennium bug, or the rapture, or 2012, or kkk daydreams of race war etc. etc. etc.


As regards 'feelings' of impending doom - that is in fact a symptom of a psychiatric condition,, which is in of itself an extraordinarily poor reason to buy a firearm.

This is a PM forum. I you want to discuss the second amendment which does not exist outside of the USA there are plenty of places on the net pretty much devoted to it (frankly it occupies to much space on the internet given how utterly irrelevant it is to most of the global population), it has little or no meaning outside of the USA and is one way or the other irrelevant considering that a large percentage of the US population were slaves during the 2nds existence who were not just forbidden to bear arms but even sit where they wanted in a bus.

The concealed carry craze is insane and propagated by an industry which has dived off the deep end of irresponsibility. Most shootings of US cops are in fact accidental discharges not criminals shooting it out.




If you want an investment gun buy an original civil war colt or an even older bess. the US is awash with characterless mass produced guns of little merit like ARs and AKMs, 10/22s, 9mm glocks, nagants and 870s etc. They will never be worth jack as an investment in the long haul because they are neither rare or expensive to begin with but common and mostly cheap......

It would be great if a mandatory clown suit went with a CCW permit. Fair odds of a crippling accident and the perfect way to make 99% of situations far worse.

As an Australian and as someone who is very familiar with the USA I am a little embarrassed by some of the comments on this tread. To the American posters let me say that not all Australians feel this way, although they are a small part of the population. What you have to know is that Australians have never had to win their freedom as Americans did through the blood of the Revolution and the Civil War, we had it handed to us at Federation. As a result most Australians don't really have well developed sense of individual freedom and liberty. Australia has been a quasi-socialist welfare state for generations. If you need any proof of this just remember the fact that more than 50% of Australian families receive more in government benefits than they pay in tax. Australians rely upon the government to provide everything to them, be it personal defence, social housing, welfare payment, free this or that. Our most conservative parties are more aligned to the Democratic Party in America than anything on the right in America. Yes, we love American movies and fashion and may even look the same but as a whole we don't have the same ingrained mind set.
Australians on the whole are a very timid, weak and compliant society. More so in the inner subrubs of our major cities. If our government imposes a law we will comply regardless of whether it imposes on our individual personal rights and freedoms. We don't have a Bill of Rights! Most people have come to accept this. That is why if the Government were to introduce a law tomorrow that confiscated all personal gold and silver holding of Australians it would be very easy to enforce.

might be an issue I suspect. Story in the paper a week or two back about a pro gun woman in the US. She got shot by her young son who was in the back seat of her car.
