Anyone enjoy copper rounds as much as silver?

I really enjoying collecting silver as a hobby. Lately, some series such as the Zombucks, Hercules, and 20th century coins (i.e., peace dollar) have included copper rounds in addition to silver. I like to put a silver and copper next to the original coin (i.e., peace dollar).

It's interesting because I actually enjoy the copper versions just as much as the silver. My family likes the copper more.

One reason I like them is because I can order 20 for about $30. I enjoy giving coins away to our friend's kids and the little ones like the copper better than silver (I am always thinking, pick the copper, pick the copper).

Does anyone else enjoy collecting the copper rounds? I wouldn't do all copper, but it has made the hobby just as fun, a lot cheaper, and probably a better investment long term.

I figure it would be a lot easier to sell a $1.20 round for 2.40 than to sell a $18 round for $36.
 
I also like copper, but copper being so cheap you would need to buy a few tonnes if you wanted to buy it as an "investment". Check out much above spot is your $1.20 round :)

I am thinking of building a house entirely of copper. And maybe have a bath tub plastered in silver, so I can say I bathe in silver! :D
 
Not as much, not even close.

The premiums are mad over here, last time I looked it was about $4 per oz for a round so I stopped looking. I can get better deals on silver.

I also find that they discolour and really show the finger prints, more so than silver, my Ron Paul NORFED "saved from the FBI raid" copper round had some really odd discolouring on it but it has matured nicely, the rest of the coin has also discoloured so it doesn't look so patchy.

They make your hands smell after handling them.

I have some of the AOCS rounds, they have some interesting design features

I asked one of the designers if it was anything to do with this...

and they said they had never noticed it before and it was not related, just a design feature that had been added.

I have my suspicions...

Yes. :)

I too have just started a small collection. The only problem is that you risk getting a ticket from the forum fun police for significantly exceeding the cost-to-enjoyment limit.

Speaking of which, does anyone know the spot price for an ounce of copper, AV ounce that is, 28g, though I have seen some rounds sold in troy ounces.
 
There's really only one copper piece so far that has caught my eye for a while now.

Old numismatic coin. More of a novelty & piece of history.


Can't seem to pull the trigger, though. Especially with Ag spot at these levels.

Maybe someday. Perhaps I'll share here if I ever get it. ;)

Yes I do, Currently 18.76 cents an ounce in US Dollars or 21.73 cents Australian.
 
hoard decimal ---> hoard copper and nickel ---> hoard Silver -----> Hoard Gold ---> Hoard Gems and Crypto

in that order.. heirarchy of physical investment (Sounded good in my mind!)

Understand your "space" limitations - and the value vs your tolerance of losing it to theft.. then work out your "secure space limitations" - now you will caculate in no time at all it is not worth paying money to secure your copper.. from here you have finished phase 1 and 2 and can trade out decimal and copper for precious metals and small or intangible items of wealth.. once space has been exhausted with silver - you can work on the expensive stuff such as gold and gems.

Start Poor, Finish Rich .. stack based on your income..

student / child all the way through to high roller venture capitilist stacking rhodium and argyles.

It's interesting though that copper costs only cents to mine per oz yet when they get the bonus silver from what's left, all of a sudden it costs ten dollars an oz to mine.

And that's why I have been enjoying copper lately. I don't expect to make any money from either, but copper rounds are practically free in comparison to gold and silver - And for me they are still fun to receive in the mail. It's part of my silver addiction recovery program. After copper, I am on to just buying air-tights, and then hopefully I can finally move on to a less expensive hobby.

Thanks, I think I asked you once before and it was about 20 cents. My mind must have rejected that value after spending $4 on an AOCS round.

I bet you'd have a better possibility of selling copper in Bosnia then you would silver.
 
I'm prepared to sell anyone a copper stacker bucket at spot + 10%, you can't beat that price.

Each bucket contains 535 oz of pure copper, what makes this copper even more special is it's Gina Rheinhart's copper.
we broke into her house and ripped all the wiring out.

Just kidding, but I do have copper for sale, $130 for 535 oz in a stacker bucket.
