Anyone buy today when silver had a $14 handle?

I bought a 1993 Kookaburra in the original square case for $19. Also bought a silver John Paul II silver medal for close to melt (it's sterling silver I was told). That's all the foreign stuff they had (other than the usual Maples, etc). Coin dealer had good inventory and the premiums had not changed that I could tell. Too bad I didn't have much to spend or I would have picked up some cheap generic.

Why is it whenever silver crashes I don't seem to have any extra $$$ so I can load up?

And great deal on the kook. :)

I dont get too excited when it drops a bit , $14 or $15 US no big deal, now wake me up when it hits single digits :P

I thought I'd put in an order with perth bullion but I didn't realise until this morning that I hadn't completed the checkout. I was busily checking all the news sites and things which distracted me.

Felt the need to return your comment back to you. lol :P

I was able to score a bit when silver was $15.06 today. On a good note, I got a 2012 Canadian reverse proof with a titanic privy for $20 (no toning, scratches or milk spots-yet at least). I put it into a new airtite for safekeeping. I have to say this coin is amazing looking (to me at least). The maple leaf on the back almost appears to be high relief in contrast with the gray-ish looking fields on the reverse. One of my favorite Maples so far.

On a lesser note, I got a 1999 4oz .999 silver $100 bill bar in a Washington Mint box (no COA) for $63. Really don't like that kind of stuff but for that price I had to bite . Nobody in there buying but me at the time, maybe that is not a good sign (although this is a smaller shop so that is not uncommon to be the only customer sometimes).

Although everyone has seen one of these before, I gotta post a pic of the Maple.

yeah, I got 40 of those privy's when they first came out. Not sure what the going rate is, but the frost helps with spots. But still have issues. This is the only Canadian I've kept since 2012.

I'm sure you US citizens love quoting those prices us Ozzies can only dream of :)
Good luck to you.
Unfortunately, you are going to have to have an economic crash to sell them for a profit ....

Actually, I don't give much thought to what others pay for metals, especially from foreign countries. I know in some places there exist draconian taxes and such that make buying PMs costly (even here in a few of the states they charge a sales tax for coins- what a scam, they don't charge sales tax on stock or bond purchases here). I plan to hold my metals until retirement (20 years or so). If silver does not go up in 20 years, I will probably just throw the crap into the ocean and be done with it.

As far a economic crashes, I'd say that is a lock, whether it be later this year, in 5 years or whenever. Once they run out of other peoples' money to grab, they will need to start the printing presses again. I think eventually they will devalue (in some manner) the US dollar. In fact, back in 2002 Bernanke gave a speech saying various ways to combat deflation (this was a speech to economists, etc, not a television type speech). All the "tactics" he mentioned in that 2002 speech have been used from what I can see, starting in 2008, that is all but one. The one not used yet is a dollar devaluation. Since he mentioned it in reference to the 1933 devaluation (devaluing the dollar vs. gold) with somewhat positive terms, I have no doubt they will do it in the future, just like they have done with the other "tactics" he mentioned along with a devaluation in that speech (such as various QE's and bond buying, etc). Devaluing the dollar would be positive for gold/silver.

Anyone who wants to read the text of his speech from that event can read it, it is even posted on the fed reserve website among other places. Google "Making sure it doesn't happen here 2002" and you will find it. I believe it is a road map to what they plan to do. Kind of easy for me to say that since they have done all but one so far, since 2008. It didn't come from a pro PM blog. In fact many PM bulls aren't even aware of what he said in that speech or that it took place.

Just my opinion.

Don't worry, the increase in premiums make it the same as buying in the upper $15's. I don't quite understand why anybody would be dancing at spot in the 14's when it costs the same to buy in the 15's.

Nah, you just gotta look harder and ignore the suppliers with wack premiums.
10oz bars can be found at or under $160. That isn't exactly upper $15 spot price.

why not gold ? I get in 5 sizes of 2015 gold panda

The GSR makes me lean heavily on silver at the moment.
When something changes, I'll pick up some more gold. :D

exactly right. I just can't be a buyer of gold at this prices when silver is so dang cheap.
