Any useful machine(s) worth while investing in or 'stacking'?

Just want to broaden my claws.

generators = check

I'm one of 'em doomsdayers, so anything that will come handy in such scenarios is a bonus.

Ideally be:
- personally practical and useful for DIY projects or business or whatever masterplan you got brewing up.
- in demand if alternative is non existent. For example, no mains electricity means generators being popular.
- have history of appreciation at times, such as demand being more than supply.
- have a history of never being unpopular.
- long model or innovation lifespan.

I reckon the following 'machines' could be worthwhile 'stacking':
- Air Compressors.
- Chainsaws.
- Bulldozers.
- Trucks.
- Old (Singer) mechanical sewing machines (not relying on bloody electronics).
- Morse Code thingy-ma-jiggy machine.
- X-Rays.
- CT Scanner (CAT scan).

Personally I'd consider water purifiers, grain mills and a set or two of butcher's knives.
Unless hell is rained down on us, good ones of the above are worth every penny and will only go up in price over the years.

The survival blog also has a few articles about how to store batteries and acid for maximum life.

If the reason you're stacking is end of days, then most of the items on your list will be useless due to fuel issues, or cheap as chips (the edible kind). The above could be useful for trading or using yourself, and batteries will always be worth money on resale, or whatever on trade.

JulieW, I never have just one reason for purchasing anything.
Example, I buy a generator for practical use now, and possible investment opportunity by selling when demand is more than supply, and also for self sufficiency borderline zombie apocalypse preparation. All awhile retaining value with minimum depreciation, unless newer model is released et cetera.

Trying to find a best all-rounder that ticks most scenarios.

I have a multitool, not just waiting to be used when zombie apocalypse comes, but to also use now! I also chose the Leatherman brand based on popularity. I also made sure it was a certain model that had useful tools for the average tradesman in various industries if they had to resort to a multitool. I also made sure it was ergonomic. I also chose a type of steel that would hold up to corrosion more so than others. I also made sure it had good resell value if sold either brand new or used (second hand) compared to other brands or options.

The control benchmark is of course Ferraris. They have an exceptional low to nonexistent depreciation. This is one objective to all my purchases of material things.

something that i saw when overseas is a tiny version of hydro powerplant that could power approx 100 homes if you have a large enough creek in your backyard and you live in the country; All youd need after that is to connect the neighbourhood houses to your grid. Donno about permits here in aus and maybe the greens would in the end stop you from building it. solar and wind aint worth it i reckon

I wonder if these could be connected between the toilet and the water source. For those living off the grid it would be better if the tank was upslope of the cistern. Just a possibility but i'm sure it would do better during parties when more people are over :D
 
Just go for a tesla generator. :-) Also there is a ritual called eating the sun which is a good replacement to eating food if you don't have any so water should be your main concern.

A craft powered by a Bistromathic drive with a SEP field generator would be my choice.

seeing we can't have guns in the lucky country, a big scary dog might come in handy to protect your house. Better than a gun i think.
