Any thought on Silver Bullets - A gimmick or what?

Because 2013 is the year of The Lone Ranger
If this thing is a blockbuster, then god knows what popularities can spin off this.
This is one of the most popular legends of the last century - personally, I would be watching for the exact calibre that was carried.

Hi gazza,
I think the key word here was 'last century'. I can't see kids these days getting excited as about cowboys and indians as they do about more modern things.
I guess that is why i don't see them being much more than a novelty.

Hi napthalene,

Well, a shipload of people in Hollywood hope you are wrong, including the ones who put in $70 million to back it.

The director and some cast are serial blockbuster makers and for Johnny Depp this is a very personal quest.

.??

Personally, I will back it in.

Have you seen the trailer?

No haven't seen the trailer yet. It was more a comment that, as with many of the older characters that you don't see much, like iron man, avengers, etc that have had blockbusters created, they aren't mega hits (in my mind) like Star Wars is.
Maybe i am wrong but we will see. Even if it is, i see kids clothes, toys, bed sheets etc taking off but I still don't think that the movie will create a hysteria around a small link such as a silver replica bullet actually being available.

I can see why they have a high premium if that is all the effort they have to put into making each one. Thanks for the vid.

The 10oz are about $25/oz from the states. Better than most rounds. Free shipping to a Californian forwarding service and then maybe forty bucks a kilo with TNT or similar to get it to Australia.... I mean we're only talking a couple of grand here, tops. People ship stuff of that value all the time (cameras etc). Or is it just asking for trouble?

And if they X-ray the package at customs...... :|

I got 12 of the .45 calibre bullets..........of course its a gimmick but its still solid silver!!!
I got a box labeled with 10 in it and man does it get some LOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that shot above of the box of mortars..............OH MY GOD...........
i would LOVE that but I would have to sell my house to pay for that box!!!
I LOVE this gimmick-if anyone has trouble finding them go to the source-Northwest Territorial Mint

They have gone as far as to threaten lawsuits if anyone tries to copy them!

I'm in for some. They aren't much more than SAEs and that price is a credit card price, so I get points on the purchase. I think these will be easy sellers at well above spot on Ebay years from now.

Looks like they will make 12 gauge soon. Can't wait. :) Now we go hunting bankers/vampires. :P

From me on post #20 ;)

And the website states that they're on the way. Would look something like this;

Seems as if the idea of the silver bullets was around well before NWTM started on theirs. Bulletforge.com were making them back in 2008 and claim they are currently pursuing copyright infringers...

Some guy made his own silver bullets and even managed to successfully fire them for a History Channel doco. Beware werewolveses!

House, tnx for the info. :)

Bulletforge page looks quite old. :) They will now sue NWTM, Feds will confiscate all of the bullets and prices will go sky rocketed. :P

Interested article. Will read whole. :)

Thanks man!
