American Landmark Series From Provident Metals

It looks like with the huge success with the Privateer Ultra High Relief coin that came out, Provident is trying to cash in on a new 'high relief' series.

Another Privateer coin will be coming out shortly but for now, Provident just announced their new series American Landmarks and their first coin is The Grand Canyon.
I am not gonna lie, this design is far from the quality of the Privateer and I'm not too excited for it but I will get a few just to check it out. It's 'ultra high relief', 2 oz., and priced somewhat reasonably.
Plus, I am a sucker for 'series' type of coins. I gotta collect them all! I'm sure it's not gonna have that huge success as the Privateer, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I think these will be neat. Perhaps they rushed this first one out and will improve later on. I'm just happy I caught the privateer and this series at the beginning.
 
I like the concept and the design. Silver, high relief, cartography, American natural landmarks, a few $ over spot, free shipping on orders over $99, no sales tax....what's not to like?

Ehhh, I suppose you're right. I do like it, but I guess in comparison to the Privateer I was just not that impressed.
But on it's own, it's a nice round that isn't that much over spot, as you say. It's Ultra High Relief too. It's a good round.

I certainly didn't mean to imply that the Privateer isn't a cool round... it is...but I really like the N.A. map design, as someone who worked as a cartographic researcher years ago, I can't help but to love maps and well executed graphical representations of the physical world.

Did anybody else notice this isn't a picture of the Grand Canyon on the coin? That's Glen Canyon. Buy them now before they fix it

I don't know how to post the pictures...but if somebody cost post the side by side with Glen Canyon...it's 100% that

That's not just an error, that's a significant and embarrassing blunder for Elemetal Mint, Ohio Precious Metals, NTR Metals, and Provident Metals because all 4 of these firms collaborated to design, produce, market, distribute, and sell these silver rounds. And none of them caught this major blunder? Ouch!!!


If I were in charge, I'd pull all the remaining rounds from the shelves that are not already ordered and paid for, have them melted, and just make sure the next round in the series was accurate and make it available for sale as soon as possible. The ridicule and embarrassment they leave themselves open to if they don't is not worth it.

It is not part of the Grand Canyon.....it's near it...definitely not part of it. They should make the remaining rounds Glen Canyon. As a series marking American landmarks isn't that a huge mistake??
 
You can even find the same exact picture they used that shows the angle where you catch that rock in the lower left corner

I was looking for that picture....do you have a link? There are many pictures that look similar that can be found using a good search engine but are not the reference picture used for this 2 oz silver round.


I may just have to buy a couple of these rounds....I liked the design from the first time I logged onto this thread but now that someone astute here on the SS forum has discovered a major error on this first of an ongoing series of silver rounds commemorating American Landmarks (a collaboration of 3 prominent precious metals firms and a 4th firm I am not familiar with), it makes it an even more appealing purchase.
