Quite a mix, but interested to hear what people think of the World War One Posters coin.

Zero interest. You know whats hot and isn't hot. Even with 450 mintage on that 5 ouncer. Don't see much interest.

I was looking at the 5oz coin...Price wise, not bad for a numis coin but have no interest in the coin

If you did buy it, I doubt in time you would get the price you even paid for it. If it was hot, That 450 mintage would have been sold out in 35 seconds..

Really not impressed with any of these latest offerings.

Last few years I've been really disheartened to see more and more "coloured" or printed coins, rather than coins pressed from metal alone. Maybe It's because I'm now a grumpy old man, but I like coins to look and feel like coins, not works of art that can never be handled, let alone viewed (can't ever open that box in case the coin is tainted somehow!) - I mean what's the point.

Unnecessary packaging and displays that will never be used. And the prices are just ridiculous.

I think it's all sizzle and no steak.

But as I said, I've turned into a GOM so, if you like them, go for them, me I'll stick to simpler coins.

That all said, I do like your site AgAu - cheers!

I think that this should do well in Australia, particularly among the students of history and Gallipoli will certainly strike a nerve with many. With such a low mintage, it may not even be an issue that the rest of the world will see much of, seems to me this is clearly targeted for the home market. I wouldn't mind having one for sure but probably would not want to pay the premium. But if I were to spot a deal on eBay I would be all over it. I also like this frame style that we are seeing more of all the time, but it does seem to be pretty huge considering the size of the bar. I believe that it is pretty easy to open these up and remove the bar if necessary.

Well, I do see the Shakespeare is unavailable, But imo I really can't see this selling for more. Maybe i'm missing something. Good luck to all who bought.

I really don't like the Shakespeare coin, poor design for me. I do wish the PM did more clean coins like the Mercanti Eagle. They are really good at them.

As for the frame picture, that looks like a photoshop as the coin shape is all wrong. The frames are called Nimbus and available in quite a few sizes and colours. They're absolutely brilliant display frames, especially for stuff like small fossils etc. Not too expensive either and very simple to reuse as the closing system is magnetic.

IIRC the paint is added AFTER the weight is calc'ed
So if you ever melted it down the paint would burn off and you would still have a true 1oz

Does that coloured imprint stuff pollute the silver? What is it composed of?

The Perth Mint mixes its ink with hardener, which cures to leave an exceptionally durable finish, resistant to fading, as well as solvent and chemical attack.
