Alaska Gold Rush!

I've watched them all so far and have to admit there's components of this that have me scratching my head. The 'wtf' factor of dragging wives and kids into the field really nagged at me as a parent myself and this constant niggling in the crew made it come across more as days of our lives than an actual mining operation.

So far, it feels more like Survivor Alaska than any real gold mining outfit.

Think about how much gold and silver he could have had if they just put that 180k odd straight into the metal rather than this?

Now where's the fun in that..... hmmm ok maybe slightly less interesting that going mining for gold :)

Even if they break even in costs from the gold they find they will be ahead with the money from the TV show.

John Schnabel, a Porcupine miner for 25 years, said he heard the Hoffmans' crew found 16 ounces of gold, or about $20,000 worth.

"They were more interested in making a movie than they were in finding gold," Schnabel said. "They didn't get their machinery going until afternoon and sometimes not until evening. They had cameras going all over the place."

But Schnabel praised Todd Hoffman's savvy and defended him from criticism of another miner who said the greenhorns were throwing out too much gold with their tailings. "There's some truth to that even in my operation. In that way they're not unique."

They would need to get about $350k atleast from discovery channel to cover costs plus six months wages for the miners

Dunno if the Discovery Channel is showing them online but the rest of the internet has backups.
 
It's legal to download stuff in Canada, for now :)

Just watched the pre-season episode and episode 1, I'm pretty pissed off right now!!

These guys, the leader especially aren't only brain dead, but I'd wrap a shovel around boss man's head the first time he got close enough to smell his stanky breath. The only persons I ever let run their head in my face were my dad and football coaches LOL
 
I DVRed the series a year ago or more...? Every episode I kept thinking they don't need a mining expert, just someone with a bit of sense and judgement and they could have made mad money SMH
 
It's a reality TV show with an angle to appeal to males/prospecting types.

I haven't watched the 2nd series yet, the first one annoyed the crap out of me (although I admit to watching it all)
