As usual Ainslie closes its online shop when there is any sort of frenzy...

They don't have an obligation to sell.

That's a good question.

Ainslie is a fantastic dealership though quite small from a staffing perspective. They probably have that many people coming in and that many orders coming in via web they cant keep up.

Bullion bourse are saying delays of 4 weeks for online orders. Different business model. One could be clearing backorder before opening again, ensuring good delivery times and customer service. The other could just be taking as many orders as they can and letting them back up.

We all know how that turned out for SBSS crew.

I don't have a problem with Ainlsie and have been a long time buyer from them... I just wished they would put up a "message" or something when they do it...

anyway... they have now put up a post on their facebook....

We'd like to apologise to our customers at having to close our web store this afternoon. After the craziness last night we have been overwhelmed on the trading floor all day with buying at these prices. With a back log of internet orders as well we could not be confident of having stock to supply new orders and took the decision to close the website rather than sell something we couldn't deliver. We hope to have it back up soon tonight after a stock take now trading has finished.

Web Store Closed

It is with regret that the web shop is closed until further notice. We will reopen as soon as possible. This decision has not been taken lightly. If we don't have it, we don't sell it. We would not close the web shop if we had sufficient stock to offer for sale, no matter the price.

Our current stock is almost exhausted. In the last week we have had 30+ clients waiting to be served personally, at any given time during the day. Online orders are being received faster than they can be processed.

After Easter 2011, we also closed the shop due to similar circumstances. Our long term clients will recall that historic time in the bullion market.

We are doing all we can to replenish stock as soon as possible. We have also temporarily engaged extra staff to assist with enquiries. However, we continue to be unable to meet the expectations of our clients, both in terms of telephone and on site enquiries,as well as product supply.

We regret the inconvenience that this event has caused and look forward to your continued understanding and support.

Geoff and Brian and the Ainslie Team
