So ABC is talking about a symposium. They are saying:

ABC Bullion's Chief Economist Jordan Eliseo will be presenting a keynote talk on Wednesday, as well as appearing on a panel session on Thursday, titled: “Gold and the Global Financial Crisis”.

This session will look back at the fall of Lehman Brothers a decade ago, what it was like working in gold and financial markets at the time, and explore the ongoing risks in financial markets today, including threats to investors.

Joining Jordan on the panel will be:
  • Bron Suchecki: Precious Metals Analyst
  • Paul Carter: Institutional Sales, Morgans Financial
  • Barry Dawes: Executive Chairman, Martin Place Securities


Has anyone been to one of these? Are they relevant?
 
I went to one of them (quite a few years ago now, 2011 or 2012 I think). I found it worthwhile and overall would recommend it if you are interested in precious metals.

You'll find the agenda is a mix of keynotes from those in the industry and gold mining company presentations. There is also an exhibition area where you can walk up and talk with management of the companies presenting.

If you aren't interested (at all) in gold mining companies you may come away from it disappointed.

BBs is right, if you are interested in the miners it brings a whole lot of them together and you can asking questions directly. The crypto day does look very interesting.
 
Why do you have to follow the advice of those 'expert' who are always wrong?
There are many here in this forum who can and have given freely better and unbiased views.
Those bought and paid-for pseudo 'gurus' are there to sing for their dinner and the bill is on you.
 
I don't think you have to 'follow the advice of experts' to get something worthwhile out of talks from those who live and breathe the industry.
