Lady Silver sailed across the AUD $69.00 line last night. I'm posting this thread for all of the long time members who remember the time when silver had a big run-up and the forum was abuzz with excitement and disbelief each morning when we woke up and saw that silver had reached a new high not seen since the Hunt Brothers spike. For a while people rushed to be the first to post in excitement each time silver crossed into a new dollar rise. "$34.00 silver"!!! we couldn't believe it.

I feel silver needs to get above $80 AUD to beat the 2011 inflation adjusted prices. Then ill start getting excited again :)

Back in good old 2011 i could buy a nice house in Adelaide for $500k, now it's north of $1 million. And a coffee would cost $3, now $5+.

It's insane right? up until the 1980's the genuine needs of life were cheap and luxuries were expensive. Now its the opposite. Back then houses were cheap, electricity, gas and water cost next to nothing, beef and lamb were pennies and even basic cars like Holdens, Fords and Minis were in reach for just about anyone. "Luxury" items on the other hand were really expensive relative to our incomes - international travel, European branded clothing... 6 Meg of Ram for an Apple computer cost $800.00.

Now it's the exact opposite. Housing, electricity, gas and food are very expensive, a house is out of reach for anyone not already on the property ladder but everyone is wearing luxury brand sunglasses and handbags and they have all of the personal items that were un-affordable back in the day.

We now have have lives of "luxurious poverty".

This is what the forum needs, a bit of hype!

Talk of "backing the truck up", "keeping some powder dry" and "to the moon" is to be encouraged.

Those were the party time days here on the forum, we all thought that as soon as SHTF we would all be metals millionaires!
