5 kg Engelhard Silver Bar

Is this the rarest Australian Engelhard silver bar?
Never seen one like it before and would appreciate any information about it.

Hi, came across this forum while doing some research.

I have seen a bar similar to the above but without the AUSTRALIA stamped on it. Everything else looks very similar. Any idea where it might have been cast? Google is leading me to Thomastown, Vic.

In 5kg bars there would be NO premium
There is a post on Engelhard's somewhere .can't remember where

As the owner of this lovely doorstop, I have had many offers of straight swaps for 5 x 1kg bars.
Have refused so far, as I think this lump of silver "uniqueness" more than justify a slightly higher premium.

Can you pick up 5 x 1 kg premium silver bars for spot unless it's at a fire sale?

Bahhumbug to all the naysayers. That is a lovely lump of metal with a touch of scarcity. I would pay a fair amount above spot for it just to have the pleasure of owning it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder who may be a collector as well as a stacker. I collect and I stack.

They do have this exact bar listed and the mintage is less than 2000. Very nice big of chunk!

Why would anyone pay extra for that when they can just go get 5 x 1 kg bars... i mean if your increasing the price then thats like saying you're adding premium to the bar it self which defeats the whole purpose.

It's an Engelhard bar. If you're going to hold a 5kg bar, sometimes it's nice to have one with a bit of history. If your interest is purely metal exposure, then this bar would not be on your shopping list.
