Anyone getting the 30th Anniversary of the Issuance of China Gold Panda? the 1/4oz has a mintage of 300,000 and the 5oz 30,000 - both silver coin. Any idea if these would make good investment? The 1/4oz is cute and would definitely add to the collection of bears ;)

Do you know which dealer is selling these ? Panda America's site has these listed, but are not selling yet.

Too pricey, when mintage taken into account. I guess I will wait for these to show up in a dealer site.

Too expensive I know,
Yet this seller managed to sell 2 in less than 48 hours since they started to sell these

It's probably because but no other dealers have these pandas yet

What is the issue price ?

Issue price for the 5oz silver coin is 3200 CNY (507 USD). Although the market price last I checked is about 3840 CNY (609 USD) in China.

Issue price for the rest of the coins are:

1/4 oz silver 168 CNY
1/10 oz gold 1800 CNY
1 oz gold 15800 CNY
5 oz gold 81000 CNY

They are all in CNY (Chinese Yuan) and you can convert it to whatever currency you want.

+1

Cmon Yennus get your act together will ya, where waiting on you :P

Just kidding mate, you do an excellent job grabbing coins at great prices for the whole Panda community here, most appreicated by all.

If Yennus cant get them we have been offered these and *might* bring them in if there seems to be a descent demand. There quite expensive though....

Rough estimates on the prices we would be selling at

1/4oz silver approx $ 33-34
5oz silver $590
1/10 gold + 1/4oz silver set - $400

You have more cheap than ebay considering 1 au = 1,05 uss
1/4 oz in ebay 49 uss
5 oz silver 640 au naomi
698 uss hangzhou incliding shipping

If yennus dont make a group buy and you post overseas i think to buy de 1/10 + 1/4 oz set
And 5 oz silver

PandaAmerica has them up on their website now.

Similar prices to what Ossie is offering if you consider the shipping costs.

Just checked and found these are available @ Panda America website, as fishball mentioned. Order placed. :-P All are still very very overpriced though. However, now that we know the issue price (thanks to ph03n1x) - this is probably best we can get.

I'm surprised that Panda America is selling the 30th Annv 5oz Silver Panda with a mintage of 30000 for US$595, while the SICF 5oz silver medal with a mintage of 2500 sold for US$495

Panda America's shipping is so expensive. Since I'm in Canada, they wanted $60 shipping for the 5 oz silver coin. That's some outrages shipping charges for registered mail. And with that, it makes the coin cost up to $655. Making it almost the same price as say from naomi on eBay. I'm having someone in China to buy one for me. But even then it is not that much cheaper 3840 CNY is still $609 USD. At least I don't know where to get it in China for 3200 CNY issue price.

I noticed that too. The only possible explanation is that 30th Anniversary medal with denomination with it probably expected to have more demand than a medal for coin show. However, history says otherwise for prior year 5 ouncers and medals. The distinguishing factor here is the "30th anniversary" - I guess. :-)

Also, even though these are overpriced - the demand of Panda coins are increasing all over the World - quite a lot in China as well - so my hunch is these will still be very popular.

Pretty much agree with that. There was a huge demand for the SICF 5oz silver pandas at the Singapore Coin fair and I think Panda America might have felt that the price too cheap, so they raised it now!
