30ft billboard for SILVER on drive back from Brisbane Airport

Another Ainslie billboard, this time for SILVER with 3meter high pictures of 15kg blocks. Saw one a while ago for gold. Interesting that they're pushing Silver. Extremely high traffic route that too, very very high visibility position. I was driving so couldn't get a photo of it, but it's the SILVER banner on their website on a 30ft long billboard. Weird thing to see.

Imagine this:

About 10 metres long and 4 metres high and you get the idea..

I used to sell those billboards for a living once upon a time and back then we couldn't give those away. It used to be the stock stand Virgin Airlines, Qantas, Optus, Telstra, the Indy, Jupiters and the theme parks that booked them long term however, with other clients we used to just bonus away those Brisbane billboards in a Australia wide campaign to get the client over the line. Because this Ainslie Bullion I believe is a local client I reckon he may have paid 3,000K for the space + $2K for the banner + $1200 installation therefore in terms of his investment all he had to do is fork out roughly 5kilos to pay for it. Not a bad deal really provided he only booke for 1 month.

Here is some inside info that they didn't perhaps tell Ainslie at the time ;) was that his best move is to only pay for 1 month display and because it is so hard to sell for the other months (depending on the position they booked) he could possibly stay up there for a 12 month booking  For example how many smaller billboards do you see around town which still have movie releases up since March of this year :P

Also, maybe the local direct sales rep has taken a back hander from Ainslie as a "gift" (bars of silver) to reduce the rate without the mother company knowing - there are so many dodgy characters in the advertising world - I've traded blows with them all ;)

I'll have to go for a drive and check it out...

Ainslie had one near the Train Station at Morningside, along Wynnum Rd, disappeared but now noticed it's back on the Train overpass heading inbound...same pic Blockhead posted...

Redback,

I'd love to but alas I'm in Sydney :(

I reckon that billboard will be up there for years depending on how good that site is. Generally speaking Brisbane sites are not sought after because most of the major marketing decisions are based in Nth Sydney and St.Kilda Rd. Those particular sites are just bonus giveaways to the larger clients and this particular client is no doubt a direct local based business.

As for tagging that site - you buy me a return ticket to Brissy and I'll do it  I hate APN :P

In fact I still know a media buddy who works in the business of selling those sites so, I'll try and find out how much it went for and for how long? then we'll watch how long it is up there for :)

sure I saw this one when I drove back the other day...

Don't tempt me to actually tag the morningside one though... I will actually do it :D
