The "Mother And Baby" series of coins, like other theme coins, can take awhile to kick-off / obtain collector appeal, some never do.
The 2018 Mother And Baby 2oz Koala coin has a declared mintage of 42,548, the 2019 mintage figures should be released in a few weeks, probably about mid June 2020.
Although some folk prefer a capsule, they can be purchased in a plastic wallet.
I think we are quite lucky, to be getting a double thickness, piedfort coin, that's affordable in today's market.
What we are getting is a collectable, limited edition coin that is part of a series.
The coins can be purchased individually in a plastic wallet, or they come un-encapsulated in tubes of 10 x 2oz coins.
Perhaps the whole idea of having un-capsuled 2oz coins is to see the market response.
I think it's a great idea to have un-capsuled coins; often we are too scared to handle our coins, but a nice chunky 2oz
coin held in the hand would make a fantastic inexpensive gift. And, for anyone who's seen one up close, the details pretty good
for a cheap 2oz Piedfort bullion coin.
