It's a global run on food stores. And I'm guessing at some point it'll flip to the Venezuela-type scenario. Perhaps a milder one?

Either way, spreading the rumors of a pandemic is the best way to control people. Sends them home, makes them shut up and obey.

The most glaring issue i have with this is WE ARE 36deg give or take .
It is probably not as basic as that and ill be corrected .

Yes, it's prudent to be prepared. However, I'm doing my best not to buy into the fearmongering. What that means varies from person to person. At what point does prepping become an obsession and an invitation for the things you're protecting yourself against?

Prepping in this particular situation is NOT an obsession if you only have 2 months worth of food and household goods on hand and perhaps a couple of weeks water.
NZ or Aus or USA at anytime from here on out could have their citizens confined to houses for unspecified periods of time with police and troops patrolling the streets.

As i see it that is really the reality we are faced with here, people do not need to be dying in the streets for a govt to act in this manner NOW.

I think this is the best "recipe" for:
- testing a biological weapon (see how it spreads) - if that's the case, but it could have come from a cute little bat, after all...
- yes, they will most likely force us to take a vaccine (because if someone doesn't take it, he/she endangers others' lives)
- cutting interest rates
- setting negative interest rates (by banks)
- bank holiday: so that you stay away from everything, fearing the virus / while it's in fact your money that your should fear for the most / then any fee, "haircut" could be done (people won't be running to the banks)
 
Some European countries are discussing the possibility of "technical unemployment", which would allow (or force?) companies to pay only 70% of the wages, while people would be "allowed" to work from home.

As gold is getting cheaper, do you think it's a good buying opportunity? What are your opinions?
(of course everyone should focus on food, health, hygiene... but if you could buy, would you?)

Lol @ idea of NZ police patrolling the streets. Never saw a breatho or speed camera sting there driving around the South Island.
