SteveS said:I have watched the British TV series, 'Antiques Roadshow' for many, many years and heard experts say that realising the full value of a collectible requires putting it on the market at exactly the same time that a well-heeled collector is looking for it. Then of course all the stars must align, with buyer and seller finding each other.
But surely the internet has changed all that? It's not so hard to advertise even extremely rare items to a very wide audience these days, and just as easy to track down a thing you might be looking for. Data on prices, likewise.
So is this what you guys see when you're collecting and selling rare items? Is it easier to realise a high price and, if so, is that leading to higher and higher prices?
