2016 Mexican Libertad proof/reverse proof set

Hi all,

I'm just looking for your thoughts and opinions on the latest exclusive release by apmex for this set. It will go for around $270usd.. The mintage is 1000. Do you think this is a good buy?
 
Yes. Looks like Apmex currently has 42 left in this batch - not sure if they are staggering the release amounts but they are gradually increasing the price since the release a couple of days ago.. you might want too be quick and grab one before they are only available for a higher price.
 
I bought both sets with reverse proof Libertad, APMEX and Banco de Mexico anniversary. Even though APMEX set has maybe more "premium" feeling, I like anniversary set more. I was hoping a little bit that they won't release reverse proof this year, but I guess this was just a childish wish. Last year in total 1500 were released, this year 1000. I guess Banco de Mexico won't release set. It will be interesting to see if mintage increase next year.
I'm in a deep shit with money currently, I would like to buy 1 or 2. I guess they are quite popular.
Hopefully APMEX won't keep the nicest ones and grade them and sell them for crazy prices.
 
They have gone up in price.. I just can't pull the trigger considering the exchange, postage and all that jazz... The reverse proof is stunning.. Whatever I do I better decide quick I guess. Thank you all for your input

Thanks for the info. I wonder what will be the mintage. If It's 1000 again, then with total 2000 will be higher than 1500 last year. Or maybe it will be less. Who knows.:)
 
Thanks for the info. So currently "key year" for APMEX Reverse proof is 2015, whereas for Banco de Mexico set is 2016. :) :P Would be nice to have this also in bigger "formats", like 5oz. Well, kilo is basically reverse proof.
 
I have seen some videos on YouTube where the coins aren't in good condition and that milk spots are on the coins...
 
Mine is due for delivery this coming friday so I'll report back then.. but bullion Libertads often have milk spots so I have no doubt the proofs do as well, I'm prepared for the worst :/

I've seen a few videos with the buyer obviously disappointed as the normal proof is marred and milked and some of the capsules are scratched and cracked. On these limited mintages, Apmex is going to be hard pressed to send replacements (only 13 available in Apmex inventory as of now) if the problem is widespread they can only offer a refund or in-store credit.

One guy apparently asked to just have the normal proof replaced but customer support said "no" they would need to have the entire set returned - these youtube cases inevitably become high profile and get escalated up the management chain.

So far it seems, in most cases, the Reverse proof is looking good though.

I'm pretty sure I will not return the whole set if the Reverse Proof is good even if the normal proof is milk spotted.

In 2015 I bought 10 sets and several of them had spots. Since they zoomed up so high so fast I just sold them noting the spots. But it really stinks that brand new coins have milk spots and I would have been very unhappy had the option to just move them at a profit not been available to me.

Note: APMEX is always pretty good about exchanging things in my experience.
 
My set arrived today. Both coins are looking great, perfect in fact. No milk spots or cracked cases. Well packed and coins tightly seated in the foam cut outs.
 
I know it's slightly off topic, but does somebody has any updates regarding the gold Libertads?

I was just today admiring my 2015 APMEX and Banco de Mexico sets.

I think Libertads are the only official govt coins I will be collecting (regularly).
