Looks like a cheap coin I won't be buying. I also don't like that they don't come in capsules. 9999 and all milk spotted. Great work there.
 
The PM have learnt nothing from the RCM milk spot debacle? Very disappointing. Let's home the monkeys dont have a similar pox.

The thing is the RCM have known about the milk spotting on their bullion coins for years and have publicly said they don't care, their sales on silver bullion coins have not slowed down either, so why change? I guess the Perth mint has gone that route as well. Its quite apparent they just don't care about milky spotting or they wouldn't have released this mess of a bullion coin.
 
Did I imagine it, or did I read somewhere that these kangaroos were being produced at a new (99999) facility?

If so, maybe this is just a teething problem on the new line.

Milk spots have nothing to do with silver purity. They are simply a processing problem almost certainly related to water quality and chlorine / HCL in the water which reacts with the silver to produce insoluble silver chloride.
 
These are not collector issue coins that receive special treatment as the case is with proof coins and such. Like with the Maple Leaf, I expect some will come with milk spots and some with none at all. E.g. https://youtu.be/C0o8ui3DfaI

I will definitely be buying a couple of these first issue coins.
 
I did a sound test on this coin today (put coin on finger and strike it with another coin) and found they don't have a nice resonating ring sound, instead the ring dampens off quick. Can someone test their coin and confirm these coins don't have a nice ring like ASE or even other PM coins like the kookaburra.

Also whats the official weight, diameter and thickness of these coins? i can't find any info on Perth Mints site.

It's a shame these don't have a nice ring as i purchased one to use as a flipping coin, so it's disappointing that it doesn't make that nice silver ring when it's being flicked. :/
 
All of mine came with milk spots. This is despite buying these in Mint State 70 condition, certified and encapsulated by NGC. Personally I will not be buying any of these again, except if I can get it at silver spot.

i got lucky because for the time being there are no milky spots on mine. Just shame that they don't sound nice (very flat). I think they look great though. Wish someone can explain why they sound flat compared to most other silver coins i have. The longest ringing coins i have are probable ASE and 1966 50c.

Surprisingly some of my AES started to develop milk spots and needless to say all my maples have them :D
 
You can only treat them as rounds now. It's a sad and unfortunate situation, but if you buy them in bulk they are priced very competitively.

Until one of the mints decides that they are going to ditch the chemical polish process and go back to mechanical polish, it will continue to happen.
 
Weren't these supposed to be a first ever mintage coin for the 2016 year ?

It shows what looks to be this 2016 " First ever " coin, with a 2015 date...missing the squiggly lines close to the rims edge on both the obverse and reverse ...also missing the tiny A inside the A in Australian ( Anti-counterfeit mark )

The ad mentions that this was a special 300,000 mintage in 2015, before the unlimited mintage of the 2016 coins....anybody seen or heard of these 2015 marked different die version ?
