wondering why does BoC make the change, No currency value, no fineness, and no weight either

Even if they want to go metric system, they could put on a gram weight.
 
Somebody thought it was a brilliant idea to snake things up abit? Kinda like the royal mint going 99.9 pure with their gold coins and ending up with lousy strikes.

Couldn't agree more. Unbelievable. I haven't bought a single Brit coin since 2012. I bought a 2013, and bumped it as soon as I got it. Terrible. I won't be buying any more brit bullion. And I won't be buying the Pandas either. NOW, it might be wise to buy some, due to the collectiblity factor, you know? Meaning, if after this year they toss out the idea of not putting the weight and purity, then I'd have to imagine these will be worth a lot? If they stick with this beyond this year, then I'm definitely done buying in large quanities. As someone said, nothing preventing the chinese from cutting corners. :(
 
I believe they might just stick with this design.

Their domestic market alone is enough to say "We don't give a crap about other people think so suck it up!"

The bamboo leaves top/bottom are symmetric this way.

I think they should put the weight and fineness on the edge.
