Very, very nice, but at 8 million, I'll pass. I'll stick with low mintage bullion like lunar and kooks. :-) and couple that with recent, notorious spotting issues...forget about it!

1 1 oz coin for collection is enough for me ...
Exactly, 1 ungraded 1oz for the collection, they do look really good in hand but I have NFI why they have such a premium with such a mintage

Thanks for the info, have been waiting to see what the new panda would look like. Must admit, won't be one of my favourites though - prefer the 2013 and 2008.

Because they are still rarer than Kooks when you consider the number of potential people that can/will/have purchase/d them.

The size of the Chinese market is huge, 1.4billion people is massive. The mintage of 8million 2013 coins is very small. Only one person in 175people is going to be able to have one (and that's assuming equal distribution, and non-world wide sales).

But the chinese are also interested in kooks, and there are only 500,000 of those. As a matter of fact the whole world likes the kook and PM lunar, as much as the panda. And we are assuming there will only be 8 million? I'll stick with the collectible pandas, and the bullion kook and lunar. If all were equal, I'd probably be overweighted Panda bullion. I don't think the Pandas will appreciate much over time...not with a MINTAGE of 8 million...maybe I'll be wrong, we'll see.

Fortunately we don't have to wait and see with this one :)

If we look at the 2011s and 2012s, these had mintages in the millions and these are already doing very well.

Agreed, and after seeing this design, the 2013s will surely go up nicely. Know a bunch of people who had a chunk of funds set aside for the 2014s who will now just keep loading up on 2013s instead

My thoughts exactly :)

I think the 2011, 2012, 2013s will be the 'tao' for the multiple Pandas.

Keydate: 2012.

I have a 100 ounces of the 2012's I can tell you, I'm not happy with the quality of the strikes (spots)...and on the 2013's too. I've got 1000's of oz of kooks. It is a rare occurance to find any with spots. Granted, the pandas are prettier than the kooks...no question...but I also have to consider resale...and the premium goes out the window when spots show up, unfortunate...I've experienced that first hand. Good luck to all buying the panda bullion...I'll stay on the sides. However, I will buy the collectibles such my favorite 2008 panda banknote. :-)

Whitespots 'reduce' their premiums, they don't 'eliminate' their premium. If you manage to get a few MS70s, this should hopefully more than compensate you for the ones that have a reduced premium. :)

Yeah, the 2008 Banknote is a special one :) Congratz on it! :) Hard to find :)

Hey Yennus, I have 10 of the 2008 banknotes I've collected over the last year...can't wait to get them graded. And I had a 70 2010 panda...guess what, I got spots. I sold it. 54.00 at a loss. I know that the grading service guarantees it, but that is a nuance to do. I've been told that the quality of the Chinese silver pandas started to decline a bit from 2010 on...and unfortunately I've seen this first hand. :-(

2010 - 800,000
2011 - 6,000,000
2012 - 8,000,000 (up to 8million... but some estimates are less than this)
2013 - 8,000,000

2012 Pandas appear more rare than they should be if their full mintage was realized.

Pandas had whitespot issues before 2010 too... it makes Pandas without whitespots very valuable, and those with whitespots 'still' valuable (but less than the perfect ones).

Wiki says 1,500,000 pandas 2010? But i heard 800,000 as well? What is correct?
