Here's a sign that this coin is a loser... Silvertowne seems to have found that it's nothing compared to the Wedge Tailed Eagle and has wholesaled some to Talisman Coins. Companies don't give up exclusivity on a winner...

I like the coin. Can't wait to see it in person. I bought it for my collection, not for a quick profit. So not really bothered that this coin doesn't look like it's going to see an astronomical increase in price. To me it's not a looser.
The problem is that this coin isn't going to sell out at it's list price that you bought it at, maybe after they drop it $5-$10 to try and push them. This will mean that you've now paid more than the current market value for it and THAT is what makes it a loser.

If you like the coin and just want one for your collection that's fine, but I'd have at least waited until they start to clearance them before buying.

The price is around the same as all the other high reliefs. I am sure they would sell them eventually at those prices, just might take a few years. They will also probably just sell them wholesale so the resellers will resell for the same retail price. I don't think their is a need for them to reduce the retail price.

Anyhow, $5-$10 dollars is neither here or there. I paid $25 to ship from US to UK. I'd much rather secure one now, knowing that I had one, rather than waiting for a possible drop in price. I don't think they will reduce the price, but who knows.

I don't see them for sale anywhere including Silvertowne, Talismancoins, or Apmex (provide a link maybe?). Not sure why all the hate for this coin DB. I got mine last week and its a beautiful coin.

I don't hate the coin, I hate this exclusivity crap that locks people in the US into having to buy from 1 specific dealer - so yes, I'm very happy to see this flop and fail.

These exclusive deals are becoming more and more common, but mostly just for people in the US as others are usually able to buy directly from Perth.

To be fair, some stuff from Perth were only available to people in Aus for a while before we get them in the US. Stock horse for example...

I tried looking for it at apmex with the same description silvertowne used and it didn't come up. I had to type in 2014 silver American eagle high relief and do some scrolling. Weird. Thanks for the link beanz.

I get it, db. I wish i could get off this obsession I've had recently for perth mint stuff. It's too freakin expensive! The quality is just so much better than anything else out there.

Silvertowne must have graded a huge number of these, because the non-graded are selling out. After ST ran out, they popped up at Talisman. But not many, and they sold out in about a day. After that, they showed up at Apmex, though at a higher price, of course. Even Apmex doesn't show many in stock, though they have been known to re-list after they sell out, and often at a higher price.

Apmex are selling them at a much higher price. How do you know that silvertown sold to Apmex at cheap wholesale prices? Apmex could have just purchased a load from their site.

Your assuming that silvertown couldn't sell them and then decided to sell them all off cheaply for cheap wholesale prices, well that might be true, or it might just happen that Apmex wanted to get in on it and bought a load at prices at or close to silvertowns retail price.

It doesn't make the coin a flop because other dealers bought some.
