2013 Rwanda 3-D Lunar Proof 3-Coin Set

Personally... I think "coins" like this are kind of screwy. Technically speaking they're coins because they're government-issued and they have a face value, but that's about it for the "coin" thing.
I think they're really more metalworking art or sculpture than they are "coins," and owning them makes you more of an art collector or sculpture collector than it makes you a coin collector.

Yes awesome looking indeed. Thing is it's more of a piece of art than a coin as Freddy brought up.

I think it looks cool but I am more into coin collecting then jewelry/art in the shape of a coin.

For who want to try their luck, these coin set are are also on ebay in auction starting from $1.00
Listing # 271186236430 and # 271186200254

Look at the video embedded in listing # 271186236430 ... is impressive, the golden snake surrounding the coin :O

Wow! I think the HIGH RELIEF Three Dimensional Lunar Snake prestige set is absolutely incredible! I own nothing like this. I've never seen a coin so beautifully rendered. With a super low mintage of like 1,800 or so, that makes this set anything but average. Some here consider these coins art because of their exquisite sculpturing...maybe it is both art and scarce coins all in one. Great art tends to appreciate in value.

I'm sold on it. I plan on buying a set.

Thanks for the heads up on this.

Not for the faint of heart but would probably make a great anniversary present for wifey...

Are you sure?... "here Darl, a box of snakes" :D

Yeah---Good point!! It must've been some long-suppressed subconscious memories from my former marriage of a few decades
ago waking up and coming back from beyond the grave to haunt my (admittedly precarious) present-day consciousness...

I'm sure if I hit some shrink's couch, the shrink could parlay my somehow linking a box of snakes with marriage into a few mill
worth of analysis.

Check out the caption beneath the middle goat in the box. "Goat of Luxuriousness". It is an awesome set would pick it up if I had unlimited funds just can't afford stuff like this.

simply fascinating, isn't it. How one man's view on an item like this is, 'man, if I had the funds, I'd buy it,' and another man's view is (mine), 'if you paid me to buy it, I wouldn't.' LOL. It's what makes the world turn right? That's what l love above human nature...one persons trash is another person's treasure...

I'm with you. Really don't like these or the jewel-encrusted Pave versions. I'm pretty open-minded on coins, I have to be, but these just don't work for me as coins, personally.

I wouldn't mind having a 1 kilo version of the silver one for my office desk...but it would have to cost under $1000, and the mintage would need to be limited to 888! Who knows, perhaps with 3D printing technology we will see that in the near future....and cheap silver-coated Chinese knockoffs selling for $50 on eBay.
p.s. I am wondering when they are going to come up with 3D printers that make 3D printers. I came across an article last week where a building complex was made using a huge 3D printer!
