2012 opal koala 1 oz silver $1.

Andyroo re: Coinclub, I rang them on Friday and they said they will be posting them out on Monday, they are definately coming !!! Would hate to pay $229 to get one qhich is what they are going for now!
 
Finally bit the bullet and bought one off eBay for around $200. Here's to hoping its another Red Back Spider!
 
Seems like the opal inlay design is unique to each coin. I think this coin has the most potential I have seen to be worth more than the issued price since the treasures of Australia set (the only numismatic set I collected)

Perhaps 1% of these types of proof coins end up being highly priced.
Yes you do get a redback or precious metals saphire - but even with those the rest of the series are worth much less

Most of the rest end up as junk

@Catseye, when you learn to know and understand the difference between an Opal Guru and a non opal guru, let me know buddy. I will be happy to give you contact details of the LRMA and QBOA to verify my backside.
In the meantime, STFU. You believe in white coats whom are not gurus in Opal, but are rather interested in profits and reputation not being tainted with an inadequate method and cut of Opal.

In my opinion, its still better than the money being spent on other numismatic coins which boasts either a different picture or colored paint. Irregardless if you think they are gimmicks or not, they were issued at $129 and some have sold for $200 and even $300 on ebay. That is a huge profit for such a short amount of time and sets itself apart from 99% of Perth Mint or other numismatic coins that have only went lower than issue price.

i agree hem9, if i was going to get either a coloured coin (with pad printing) or one of these opal koala coins I would choose the opal koala coin any day. and that is a BIG "if" (since I do not buy colored coins).

I kind of thought that the koalas would do better as there was so much hype for the the welsh dragon or the berlin dragon, that I could not see how the coins could possibly live up to it. And in most cases, usually the biggest winners are the most unexpected ones (which is true in most investments or collectibles).

Thats an insane amount to spend on a single coin. makes me want to learn how to send coins for grading :P
 
The opal glows under the LED moon! I can't believe how awesome this looks.
I am very skeptical of all the new junk from PM but I have to say this looks great with the light on. :cool:
 
I wonder how much the opal in the coin alone is worth, in my opinion I would much rather buy a coin with an opal peice of art in it than a coin with some colored print on
