2012 Dragon Designs

Apparently the five and four fingers is true to the original wall mural the design is taken from.

If you look closely at that dragon on the wall mural, you can see that the missing claw is not exactly missing, it is sort of hidden from view, behind part of its body. But the rest of the claw suggests that there is a digit there. There's a bone thingy sticking out. Gawd, that doesn't sound right. Hard to describe.. obvious when you look at it :)

I like Chilli's explanation, though :D

noddy_coder - it's a bullion coin because it has a frosted table. Proof coins have highly polished tables. That's the little trick I use to figure out what I'm looking at.
 
It's not missing, the last finger is facing us head on, so it's not very visible on a normal bullion.

Since it is facing the viewer, it only shows up as a nail on the bullion version.

On a colored gold bullion it will be obvious.

I still think they could have made a better choice in the design. The neck to head ratio is just terrible.

It does look better on different angle, however I still prefer S1 dragon.
 
I'm trying to work out which colour best represents the 2012 year of the dragon.

I've found references to black as the best reference for the 2012 year of the water dragon, but like anything on the web - who knows?

Has any body found a reference with legitimacy that would shed some light on colour references for the 2012 year of the dragon?
 
The idea is to see if there is a "best colour" representation for 2012 bullion dragon and then consider if its worth the punt.

I remember reading some where that the mint is producing more size variety in the red bullion coin than the other colours - yet to be confirmed. I'm not sure of the significance of red to 2012.

I have only done a cursory google with the following link as one reference - as far I know this information could have been put together by Mr Magoo!

Well red is the lucky colour in chinese culture. Hence the red packets on New Year's.

Might be talking about the typeset since he did mention the post office and they're stocking typesets...(I think)
 
so i read that water dragon colours are:
Black (Water at night); Blue (Water in daylight).
sheffieldkungfu.com calling 2012 The Black Dragon Year. not saying its legit but was the best write up i found in my short search
