I just did a quick run around the banks on my street and they said that they mostly get them in bags not rolls - damn it.
I went in a while ago and got $500 worth of $1 coins to rummage through. Came in a big armaguard bag with individual $20 bags inside. Never did it again as the tellers interrogated me and i wouldn't give them a straight answer as to why i wanted them just to spite their nosiness.
If you ever do it again, just say you're helping out at a school fete and needed to make sure there was enough change for the sausage sizzle and jumble sale stall.
Not that it's any of their business to begin with but sourcing coins for change isn't a very unusual request. The annoying part of it for the bank is they have to deal with all the loose coin you bring back so hunting for rarities just makes more work for them. They can't exactly stop you doing it, but they don't have to like it either so just tell them a story to get them off your back.
